I am only using power director as a hobby, not to make monetised videos but I am getting more than a little tired of the silence coming from Cyberlink and Google over this business of the vid blocking.
To me,it appears that you tube is simply using it's market muscle to push cyber link out of the way and cyberlink,as long as people are buying the license to use their software, don't give a damn about the fact many of us are no longer able to upload vids.
Another thing that wrankles me is the fact that cyberlink is suggesting we use another way to up load our videos when we have paid for this software to do the job .
why on earth should I waste time downloading ,uploading, then downloading over a period of hours just to save Cyberlink the hassle of sorting a problem of their own making, out?

I'm not going to renew my license and will try a few other software items out therec in market because life is to short and money to hard to earn without scam artists running this sort of circus and takng my money

Cyberlink are not "scam artists".
Youtube frequently changes it's access code API, so every time that is done, Cyberlink has to catch up.
Aside from that I have always considered the in-house Youtube uploader to sacrifice quality for convenience.
Rendering your file using the Youtube-PD system forced the file to be WMV, heavily compressed, with few if any options to tweak the profile without using a 3rd party program to create a tweaked/new profile.

no, it's called Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and monetizing YouTube videos if one can.

BarrytheCrab, Sonic67 etc had lengthy discussions about PD users here in this forum about PD EULA in the past... WMV container is the only one one can monetize through YouTube using PD.

then the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act was violated by the Google and paid the price of $170,000,000.00.

now the Google(YouTube) is saying to all content creators to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. if not Google is warning everyone the individuals will pay the fines($10,000.00 per each violation) after September 2019. Google will not pay and so is the CyberLink for one's ignorance.

so BLUF is create in WMV container and upload through your YouTube account and answer if the videos are made for kids or not.
when the crap hits the fan don't blame anybody including CyberLink. all i can say is i(Tomasc, too) told you so.

have a wonderful day.

PD17 online Uploads to YouTube is working properly again today. PD17 locked up after that on my pc but the video appears properly on YouTube as good as if I uploaded it manually. I normally upload manually at 1080/60p with 5.1 audio to YouTube. This profile is simplified as 1080/30p with stereo audio when using the PD17 online option. The shared timeline appears in the DirectorZone. I have not used this function previously on PD17.

How can, "all content creators comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act"?

I have PD14 and cannot upload a video to YT.
However, I uploaded 2 videos 3 and 4 months ago with no problem.
I have no intention of monetising it.
What am I supposed to do?
What does "BLUF" mean?

Thanks. Phil

It's probably better to look up unfamiliar terms and read more about policy changes by searching on Google rather than waiting/hoping that other people will answer those kinds of questions here on the forum.

In any event, API means Application Programming Interface, which is how programs like PD "talk" with websites like YouTube.

YT changed their API a few weeks ago, which meant that every single program that used it had to change the interface on their end to match. In addition, the developers actually had to submit their proposed changes to Google (which owns YT) for approval before their programs were allowed to connect to the new API, which is why it took so long.

There were several threads on the forum during this time that clearly explained the alternate (and in my opinion, far superior) method of simply producing the video to your hard drive and then manually uploading it to YT. Please see this post for specific steps, and this thread for understanding the limitations in using PD's built-in uploader.

I read your post yesterday and got a message when I tried PD14 about not being able to connect with the YT server (which is a different issue than what's being discussed here), and I tried again just now and everything is working, so you should be able to use PD14 and directly upload to YT as you did several months ago.

You may have to re-register like this:

Since I can upload I know that the issue isn't directly caused by PD14, and you may need to do some technical troubleshooting to get the script working on your end.

Again, the simplest approach is to produce the clip and then manually upload it. See the linked post in my previous response for the specifics.

The Google/YouTube sign in issue has been resolved. It should work now:
