How to make a VIDEO background transparent ...without a green background?
[Post New]
Hello,

I found a video that is similar for another product:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUBFHrMkQLE

Anyone able to do this with PD?

Btw, if I am not using the right terminology - please let me know. I hear the term 'alpha channel' a lot.

Thanks,

V

it does not have to be a green screen. You can use a white sheet if you like. Just as long as it is one color and you do not wear that color. If you wanted to you could use a red sheet but if you wear a red shirt then you would disappear too.

OR if you can find a wall that is the same color that will work too. You would do the same thing you do with a green screen with chroma key PowerDirector Tutorials Team

That is good news.

I have white walls - can I use those?

Once I do make a video against a solid surface (white walls) then what? I see you have a pile of videos - should I look at "How to Green Screen"?

Thank you very much for your help!

The only reason people use green or blue screen is that they are colors that do not match anything in the background. If a person wears a green shirt and then uses a green screen and then chroma keys it the body will be gone. So if a person has a green shirt on then they use a blue screen.

Yes, you are just doing a Croma key no matter what color you use. I use an app to help me. https://youtu.be/mt1B35pyD7w

Lighting is the most important when you chroma key more than just the color of the background you use. More light makes it easier to chroma key. Also with anything you learn more by doing. So set that camera up to take a 2 minutes video of you reading to the camera and load it into PD and practice that chroma key. Try different lights in different spots. Until you find what works for you. PowerDirector Tutorials Team
