I'm new to this forum. I've spent some time trying to find answers to my questions on the CyberLink web site and the various CyberLink Community Forums. I hope someone can answer my questions or point me to the CyberLink documentation that will provide answers.

I bought PowerDirector on my Android phone. I found it difficult to edit on that small screen, so I'm looking for a sutable tablet that can run PowerDirector. Here are some of my questions.

  1. Can I get PowerDirector for Amazon Fire tables like the Fire HD 8 Tablet?

  2. Can any PowerDirector user give me some idea about how well it works on a tablet? How powerful does the tablet need to be to have acceptable preformance?

  3. If I bought PowerDirector for my Google Android phone, can I put it on a tablet too or do I have to buy it on each Android device?

Thanks for your help. Rob:-]

Rob,

I'm not sure, but I think the answer is no unless you can get the Google play store on the fire tablet.

My experience of the mobile software is on a Chromebook. I have a Asus flip that can also install Android apps. The device has an Intel chipset and 4G RAM and works well with Powerdirector mobile.

The software can be installed on any number of devices, there is a subscription for some features (it's not expensive and is available as a Google Play subscription).

Regards

Phil

Hi Philwild,

Thanks for the reply. I think you're correct about the Amazon Fire Tablet.

I found some information from CyberLink about what SoC chips they support. Here's the link:

PowerDirector Mobile Android SoC chips supported

I've been looking at what tablets support these, so that may be my answer. I just have to do the legwork to find one that uses one of these. There are plenty of them.

  • From what I know, if you are using the same Google account on both the smart phone and the tablet, you don't need to pay twice. You can use the same on both.

Thanks for the reply. I am using the same Google account, which is why I thought that might be the case.

Right now I'm rocking the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. It works great and I haven't had any issues running the app on this device. I haven't tried to add more than one overlay so I'm not sure how many overlay tracks it will support. Depending on the chip the program supports up to 8 overlays with three of them being video capable.

Hope you find a device that works well and suits your needs. Subscribe to PowerDirector University on YouTube.

Maliek, thanks for the reply. I got a stylus to work with my Pixel 3XL so maybe I can edit better with that. My fingers were just too fat to know which thing I was pressing on the screen. This was quite frustrating.

Oh and I subscribed to PowerDirector University. I love learing new stuff on YouTube so thanks for creating the channel.
I see you have lots of videos about PowerDirector 17. I looked all over my app and can't fined anything that says what version it is. The last update was Jul 8, 2019 and the new version is 5.4.5, so I would think this one is version 5. I bought it in just about one year ago. Do the versions change that fast. (If you have a video about this, please point me to it. :)

The CyberLink web site is totally silent about PowerDirector for Android. It looks like the Windows Power Director 360 is a subscription. I just dropped my Adobe CC subscription because I'm retired and don't need quite so much. I'm looking for an inexpensive video editing suite that will run on Windows 7. (I'll upgrade to a new computer when I get back from Europe next June.) Any suggestions?

    Thanks again. Rob:-]

PowerDirector 17 is the desktop/laptop version. The Android app is different and is probably on version 5. They are two totally different programs. If you search my channel for PowerDirector Mobile Android App tutorials you'll find tutorials for the app.

PowerDirector 17 is available as a standalone (one-time purchase) or subscription (365). Either will run on Windows 7, 8, and 10. If you don't want to pay a monthly fee and don't mind not having all the bells and whistles go with the standalone version. Subscribe to PowerDirector University on YouTube.
