Facebook video uploads
[Post New]
I just tried 3 options to upload a 3 minute music video to Facebook from PD14 and of course failed miserably.
The video is made up of photos with a music background.
I first tried FULL HD because I thought that it will do the photos justice..
Then I tried HD.
Then I tried 640x30 thinking the photos will hardly be able to be identified.
But none worked.
My Facebook page is empty still.

I had already looked up the plethora of confusing specifications allowed by Facebook!
How confusing can Facebook get?

What I can't undrstand is that I make this 3 min video up from scratch in PD14 and after editing it I go into Produce and then into Online and then into Facebook and then choose the Profile type and then click on Start and give my Authorization for accessing my Facebook account and then PD14 Renders the video to a certain specification and then uploads it to my Facebook page it says! BUT IT DOESN'T!

Can someone please help me find a solution to this problem?

I don't have a Facebook account, but I don't ever use PD's "produce to online" options when producing online content.

Instead, I always produce to my clips' native resolution (60p HD or 4K) and then manually upload to YouTube, or in your case, to Facebook.

That way, you can 1) confirm that the video was produced correctly, and 2) ensure that you have full control over any comments or descriptions that will be displayed alongside your production. I know there have been some programmatic changes at Facebook since PD14 was released, and the FB interface that PD14 uses is probably now obsolete, so just skip that part entirely.

The problem with these uploads from software like PD is that they are dependent on the online service keeping the API open. I'm sure that Facebook has blocked uploads of photos and videos in this manner.

As Optodata says, it's better to produce the video and then upload from within the service.

Facebook terminated the ability to upload videos to their site. See this announcement for more details:

You can do as Optodata suggested to upload it.

Thanks everyone for that info!
I did as suggested and my music video is now up on my Facebook page.

Does anyone know if that facility has been removed from recent versions of PowerDirector like PD17 and 365?
And does anyone know why Facebook decided to get tough with software editors like Cyberlink? Phil

If you follow and read the links on CLD's post you will see this from FaceBook: https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2018/04/24/new-facebook-platform-product-changes-policy-updates/ . You can then make up your own mind and it should answer your questions.

Phil

It's not really a Cyberlink issue, any software that offers a direct upload to Facebook will have the same issue.
