When producing video shows only BLACK screen with audio

This issue seems to have come up a lot with people in the past but all the solutions offered haven't worked.

When I try to produce a video the export comes up as a black screen with the audio playing, and maybe some of the text and effects, but missing the bulk of the video content.
EVEN WORSE, I recently tried exporting to mp4 and the video was not just black in sections, but also had flashing green and red portions which suggested corruption of some sort.

I have tried:
+updating my GPU drivers
+disabling hardware acceleration
+changing export file format
+chopping up the video into smaller components and exporting those individually
+entering the registry and changing the videorenderer to VMR9

NONE of these have worked

FYI:
+I don't have a good graphics card (ATI firepro 2260 embarrassing I know) but I have a powerful processor and loads of RAM.
+The project includes both .avi files and .mp4 files, perhaps this is the issue?

What can I do?

Also I've attached a DxDiag

Do the original source videos (.avi and .mp4) play properly in WMP, PD17 library, and on the timeline? If they do then try to view the produced files with VLC.

You can use Mediainfo to see if video is available in your produced files.

Can you please supply a link to one drive or google drive to say a 10 second produced .avi and mp4 files for users to check out.

the source videos play perfectly fine in WMP, the library and the timeline- only when you get to the preview screen in "Produce" and then subsequently the exported video does the screen go black with just audio. I have tried VLC and it is also black.

mediainfo says that there is a video stream in the produced files

I think I misrepresented what I was doing- the final exported video will always be in .mp4 format, however the original source files in the PowerDirector project are in a mix of .avi and .mp4 formats, and I was speculating as to whether this was the cause of the issue.

Here are two short examples of what I'm talking about- exported into both .mp4 and .avi formats. There should be a talking head to go along with the voice but it's just black.

jofrazzer,
Thank you for posting the two videos.

I would like to see a screen shot of your Edit screen and your Produce screen in Powerdirector with you project loaded. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

I've just looked at your DxDiag file (thanks very much for posting that!), and some of the drivers you have installed are ancient.

For example, the ATI driver is from Nov 2010, but the final driver released by Dell for your Win7 x64 system is Dec 2013. There is also new BIOS released in Nov 2018 marked as Urgent, and there are many other updates for your machine at the Dell support page for the Precision T7500. Make a system image backup so you can go back if any of these cause problems, but chances are they will improve your system, possibly solving this video issue.

Another thing you can try is to uncheck the Hardware Acceleration options in PD's Preferences (gear icon), and try producing without checking the Fast video rendering technology box and see if that helps.

Like Carl has requested, a screenshot of your timeline would also be helpful since it sounds like you're able to preview the clips while editing, and the problem only appears after producing your project.

I am having the same issue as the OP stated. Found online that this is a problem with many using this software. My problem is exactly the same after rendering. A good 3/4 of my produced video is black. No matter what format I use I get the same results. My "project" was due this morning. I am at a complete loss. There seems to be no fix.

This actually is not a common problem, and to help we'd need to know a lot more about your computer and what you project looks like. Please read over all of the posts here and supply as much info as possible.

The simplest thing to try is to produce with the Fast video rendering technology box unchecked on the Produce page to force PD to use your CPU and not use your GPU.
