I was having prob's with v6 so I decided to upgrade both my computer (at the cost of $2280:00 AU ) and powerdirector ( + $ 124:99 AU ) . I am running the new i7 core with vista home and now I am having way more problems that ever with powerdirector V7 . One of the things that I can't seem to fix is the fast motion feature, when I produce my projects the parts that I had fastmotion in are all jumpy and hard to watch. I tryed a few times in differant formats but still the same prob . In the end I just had to go back through my project and reset all the fastmotion parts to normal. Can anybody help me please

Gidday Muskusoly -

The Australian contingent is growing. I'm in OZ too.

Are you talking about increasing the speed of the clips or the magic motion feature? I guess you mean increasing the speed...

I haven't had that problem even though I've increased some clips to 8x... with Benny Hill music - good laugh. Even then - it behaved perfectly.

Obviously it isn't your PC making it difficult... and you've tried different formats.

Is there a speed at which the jerkiness becomes more evident? 2x, 3x, 4x???

I'd be more help if I could replicate the issue here.

Cheers -

Tony

Hi,
Is the issue seen in PD's Preview, PC Video Player or the finished file played on a TV?

Dafydd

Obviously it isn't your PC making it difficult... and you've tried different formats.
It is likely to be his PC that's the issue here.

Yes I just increased the speed, I ticked the mute button so as to enable a faster speed rather than just stretch the sound, I went to 3.00 X and I also tryed going to 4.00 X

To check if it was only in playback on my pc, I created a dic and played it on my DVD player (not the computer one) and it was still the same. In fact I tryed re doing a small video project (with one clip in 3.00 x )and finalised it as well but the same thing happend.

Muskusoly -

Try doing a complete uninstall and reinstall the software. Very often, this can correct a glitch. If your PC is fairly new, it's unlikely to need defragmenting (I think).

Use Windows Install Clean Up - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301) - then reinstall it. This will usually fix whatever is wrong.

Another freeware alternative is Revo Uninstaller...
http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Both these will remove unnecessary registry files, which the regular windows uninsaller won't.

Do you mean reinstall Vista? I already uninstalled PDV7 and I even redownloaded v7 again (took another 3 hours) just to be sure an reinstalled it but no luck did a test and still the same. Hey thanks heaps for the help and the link, I'll go check it out and see what I can see. cheers Marcus.

What format is the original file from the camera? It might be helpful if you could upload a sample of the original video for others to play with. I'm sure Dafydd will not mind.

There are free file sharing sites you can register at where you can upload large files. I can send you a PM of the one which I use if you wish. Q9300 2.5 GHz
4 GB Ram
Nvidia 9800 GT

ok...yer send me a link or pm....I have 4 camera's and one is a Samsung Hd which transfers mpg4 files to my com but the other are on digital tape which transfer using firwire.....thats a good point though...just trying to think if the the problem clips are from the same camera because I had loaded video from three camera's for this project..............thinking thinking........Hmmm...I am pritty sure the problem clips were from differant camera's thus ruling out the possability that it was the camera..besides I have used v6 on my old com with the same camera's and had no prob's with the fast motion programe... I can upload a demo of the probs I am having onto my YouTube channel (Muskusoly) to show whats happening.

Same cameras, but not the same computer or version of PD. I sent you a PM of the file sharing site I like to use.

I am still having all sorts of probs with PD v7 guys. I have been bizy making another 4wd vid (this time with slowmotion)of some friends and didnt I have trouble with it. Crashed my com almost every time I tryed to produce movie. It took me a week to think of a way to stop it from crashing and finish off my project that I spent two weeks working on. I had to break the movie down into 5min lots, save them (as pmg2 files)and then bring them back onto the timeline as a produced mpg2 file and reconnect them into my origanal movie, even then some of it had lip sink. I am wondering if some of the tools that came with my original cd (that came with my camera) like the PD v5 and burning tools..etc, are conflicting with the PDv7 bundle now on my computer? I deleted v5 off before I installed v7 but I didn't uninstall the other sofware that came with v5. The only other thing I was thinking of doing is to wipe the hardrive and this time put on XP instead of Vist, I have heard a few horra storys about vista. cheers Marcus. (ps... I haven't uploaded any video for you to try because it would take hours)

From your description I'd say the problem of constant crashing is more likely to be your PC reacting under duress. Uninstall re-install PD please. see instructions below.

When you produce do you preview the process or not (un-check the option)?

1. You mentioned the file format as mp4, this comes in differing guises, what's the file extension your camera's capturing in please?
2. I'd also like to know what the frame size of the video please?

Please can you create a diagnostic file and attached the text file to your next post? See info below.

As I've had to deal with a number of problems and not implying anything by this next question:
Where did you obtain your PowerDirector 7 from?
What build version was delivered to you?

Have you applied the latest patch?
http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/powerdirector/patches_en_US.html

I also would like you to be very concise with the description of your problem for others to try and replicate please. Please follow the information listed here:

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, I put this in the to hard basket for a few weeks, lol. I did a small project the other day (only about 5min's long) with a small intro, some music and some fades, still semmed to have a few prob's but was not to bad, produced it ok but when I uploaded it to facebook it took out the talking and prplaced it with a small portion of the intro and finish music?????,. At first I thought it was a problem with facebook so I uplaoded it again and then again, some prob. My friends wanted to know were the talking went to.

Then I tryed to upload it to youtube throught PD and it froze my com, I just totally gave up after that in disgust.

(update...I just uploaded it to youtube directly from the produced mp4 file and IT WORKED, here is the link of what it was suposed to look and sound like on facebook. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alawPOVpzgQ&feature=channel_page )

I still havent laoded XP on this com but I am still hopeing that will solve all the prob's.
Now to answer some question...(I will try)...
1. I had a look at my main camera (Samsung full HD, the VP-HMX20C pal format.) all I can tell is it saves the files in MP4, in this case I had the camera set to the SD Super fine mode to save on space.

2. Frame size......not sure what you mean... 16:9.

I obtain cyberlink PDv7 from the USA web site, here is the top part of the conformation of payment email they sent me,................ "Thank you for ordering from CyberLink Corp. US on June 9, 2009. The following email is a summary of your order. Please use this as your proof of purchase. If you paid by credit card, please look for DRI*Cyberlink Corp on your credit card billing statement"

I have had a small break through....I found that PD7 works pritty well so long as I dont put any 3D texts in...put it this way , the more 3D annimated texts that I put in the worse PD7 crashers and I think things get worse if I save a project and another day I reopen and continue with the project, then as soon as I go to produce then all hell breaks out. Get rid of the 3D texts and it seems to produce without to much drama. The only thing is I bought PD7 because I like the 3D texts and the animation that went with it otherwise I might as well have keeped using WMM for free.

Here is a vid I just finished and uplaoded the other day. I had to produce it without any 3D texts then bring it back onto the timeline as one clip then add the 3D texts, but I still had some trouble untill I found and changed two 3D clips that must have been carupted somehow.
check it out

(ps, I have just been reading the info at http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/2405.page that you asked me to look up Dafydd and the PowerDirector build is the Ultra. 7.0.2726 ) Tomorow after work I am going to follow the rest of the instructions and Create a Diagnostic File. No I did it now so here is the info on my com, I hope this is what your after.

According to the text you got from cyberlink, you have version 2726, which is old.

Once you install, upgrade to the latest version 3017.

Another thing I gust remembered that I noticed, if I use some 3D motion texts in my video when I go to produce it I see the video seems to produce at high speed as aposed to rather slow when not useing any 3D motion texts. I have always thought the having it produce that fast must make it crash alot easyer. I have looked for a setting in PDv7 to slow production down x5, x3,x1 etc. cheers marcus
