Hi, I purchased PowerDVD 17 as a upgrade to PDVD15.
The installation went fine, but when trying to start/activate the program it comes back with an error:
'Your Product Key is incorrect. Please try again. (0x8007007e)'

I put in a trouble ticket, but the answer didn't help me much (and it took a week before I got a answer?), it basiacally just told me to put in the key correctly.

I then uninstalled everything and tried again, no improvement.
Since it's a upgrade I had to put in a earlier key which worked OK, but when trying to start PDVD 17 it comes back with the same error.

And now when trying to install PDVD15 I get the same error... activation fails.

I have tried both copy/paste and write in the serial number manually.

I'm running Windows 10/64 with the latest updates, with only the built-in Anti Virus (which I deactivated, no improvement).

Anyone who can help?

I used the PDVD17 key that was provided to me at purchase... what other key am I supposed to use?

Have you ever installed any "unofficial" versions of powerdvd before on your PC?
The cracker or keygen will add cyberlink server into hosts file or system, and block the formal version activation.
Then, your CD key will always show incorrect no matter you typed correctly or not.
My guess.

My guess.

No 'unofficial' versions... only 'legal' earlier versions of PowerDVD (15,14...).
I did look at my 'hosts' file though, and it was empty.

I finally got this resolved, after a few back-and-forth with Cyberlink support (10 or so).
It ended up being something wrong with 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86)', after uninstalling that, and re-installing PowerDVD 17, activation worked.

I had 3 different versions of the VC++ 2012 installed, even one in either Japanese/Chinese version, but after removing all that it worked.

It just took a month and a half worth of trouble shooting...
