power director 16 - doesn't play .flv file

Is PD supposed to play these files? I drag a file onto the timeline but when I play it the preview window remains blank and silent although the marker moves along the timeline at the bottom of the window as if it is playing it - thanks

I assume that you mean PowerDVD (player) and not PowerDirector (editor).

No, flv are not supported unless they are "1Only supports FLV/MOV files encoded with H.264 codec"

Thanks for your kind response Steve. I meant CyberLink PowerDirector 16, my movie editing software. These .flv files I have uploaded to my PC from nanny cam. I would like to put the clips together into a movie. How would I find out if they were encoded in H.264? Thanks

Get that information from the instructions or directly from the camcorder manufacturer. Since the videos don't work, that may mean that they are not supported.

You can use another program to convert the videos to an acceptable format (mpg2 or similar). There are several free ones. .

thanks for your help steve. I cannot get the info on what the format is, so I will try to convert as you suggest
