I am having trouble producing a DVD in Power Director (DVD Suite V6). I last used it about 6 months ago and had no problem at all. That project had photos and movie clips from the same camera that I am still using. I get an error message that Power Director has encountered a problem and must shutdown when it reaches the first movie clip. Any ideas on this? Same computer, same camera. Thanks

Hi Jan -

I'm not sure what the problem is, given that nothing much has changed, but I'd check out Dafydd's write up at http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/2405.page

If that doesn't help - and it should - uninstall the whole thing, using windows install clean up or revo uninstaller (they'll get rid of the left over bits)... then reinstall.

You can get these at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
and http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Sorry - that's about the only bit of feeble advice I can offer. It seems to work for most people.

Have you updated your drivers, windows security updates and have latest direct X files ?. Again if you are using Vista and have done any recent windows updates that could be the problem. If you have "restore" option enabled try rolling back.

I've tried reinstalling Power Director and that didn't work. I have Windows XP and have all current updates. But thanks for the ideas anyway.

Jan,

Be sure to clean out all tmp folders/files in your PD7 working directory. Once done, see if you can produce to a DVD folder? If so do that and burn with a different utility.
