new to both powerdirector and video editing, i bought full version of Powerdirector 16
i put together 15 4 second clips to make a 1 minute sports video
goal is to upload on youtube
i tried to use motion tracker and was unsuccessful with the tracking, got frustrated tracker was tracking others after 2 seconds.

so i decided to use motion tracker/spotlight feature
goal is to spotlight 1 second every 4-5 seconds
need about 15 spotlights
after 7 spotlights, i get message i maxed out effects? do i need to upgrade to a better version
Also, anyone out there available to tutor me online, i figure i need 1-2 hours of one on one remote/online, what are you fees?

Unfortunately 7 effects is the maximum allowed. Try producing the clip with the seven effects to a format you require. Then reload the produced clip back into the timeline and you should be able to insert another seven effects and so on... If you use the orange squares at the top of the scrubber you could produce the range selected.

So far as tuition is concerned there are so many tutorials out there, they cover everything you need. Have a look at the magazine here https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/65031.page At the end is a "places to visit" section. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

This is the eighth issue of the magazine, the previous seven will help you a lot too.

Enjoy

Robert

Hi and-power -

I'd never attempted to apply more than a few motion tracks to a clip, but you're right. It's limited to 7 for each clip.

The easiest way around that is to simply split the video into shorter segments. You'll find that Motion Tracker is more reliable with shorter clips anyway.

I assume you originally had all your short segments lined up on the timeline - then produced - then did the motion tracking (???) Just line up the short clips, do the motion tracking on each one... then produce.

The attached screenshot shows 15 x 5 sec clips, each with motion tracking > spotlight applied.

Cheers - Tony
