Want to Build New Video Editing PC - Have CPU support questions?..

I plan on building a new video editing PC on Cycber Monday. A couple of questions:

  1. Does PowerDirector 15 and/or 16 support the AMD Ryzen 1700x and/or the Intel i7 8700k CPU's? Would hate to build and not have it work! Leaning towards Ryzen 1700x, seem to get a bigger bang for the buck. Thoughts?

  2. If anyone is using these, any recommendations on motherboards and GPUs?

Cheers,

'dawg

PD16 works fine on my setup eating around 30% from my R7 1800x and around 30% from my GTX1080 when rendering a 50 Mbit/s 1080p movie to 4K 50 Mbit/s.

Thanks for the feedback! Found some great Cyber Monday deals. Ended up building a rig with the Pentium i7 8700k, 32gb ram, GeForce 1080ti graphics card, 500gb m2 SSD, 2tb sata HD, 800watt power supply, liquid cooled. Should do the trick for a couple of years!

Cheers

Hello,

Please let the community know how good this new configuration works?

There's a tiny app called TechPowerUp GPU-Z that is interesting to check GPU when running PD and others.

Success, and we hope to read you soon.

Thanks.

Alain,

My system should ship mid December. Hope to spend some time on it over the holidays. Will look for the app you mentioned and give it a try. Hope to have some good HD drone footage to process by then. Pretty new to PD. Installed PD 15 on my laptop, but it was a real dog, lol. This should be a major step up.
