The software is freshly updated, actually, and the CD is a new one.

It's a library copy of B is fo Burglar by Sue Grafton. The program had been working just fine, but Windows updated last night when I turned my laptop back on, and now it won't work.

And the screen shot of the disc contents?

Since this is related to a Windows update, did you search Microsoft for your type of problem?

You could uninstall the update and see if that helps play the cd. If it does, see if you really need the update. However there may be a fix on the Microsoft site. .
