Are you sure that you are using the audio gain lever? Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

Yes, Audiomix, Audio 1. FadeIn is automatically selected, I cannot deselect it.

Also erasing this marker dots ât the start and end of a clip is not possible.

in the Audio Mixing room the vertical slider (Video Volume) is for a single selected clip. The horizontal slider (Audio Gain) is for the level of the whole track. (every clip on the one track).

If you have multiple tracks, you can adjust the level of each track. There is no adjustment for the whole project in Powerdirector unless you produce to a single video. Thanks, Barry. I never would have thought to open the Audio Mixing "Room" to do such a simple task. As Capt Kevin pointed out back in 2013, this really ought to be something that can be done on the time line directly, as is done in other video editors. (Just grabbing handles to raise or lower audio (or video) levels in each clip.)

I'll have to look more closely, 'cause when I try dragging a "handle" (more like an edit point), it pulls down only one side of the clip - like a long fade.

That's because you are creating a keyframe where the volume is set. It (the volume) slowly increases or decreases over time until it reaches either the end of the clip or alternatively the next keyframe. To set a constant volume using this method you need to create the second keyframe as well.

With the clip highlighted:

You can crop by simply using the double arrow to make the clip smaller at any end.

You can adjust the opacity by hovering the mouse over the top of the clip until a double ened arrow appears. Then click and drag the top down until the opacity is what you want.

You can adjust the speed by keeping your finger on the control key as you drag the clip to slow it or speed it up. nb For faster speeds drag from left to right. For slower speeds drag from right.

What more do you want to do on the timeline?

Thx. I won't say that none of that was intuitively obvious. (Well, the Ctrl key for speed isn't.) But like easter eggs buried in software, I never saw those before. Probably serves me right for not watching some basic tutorials.
