When I create a slideshow or a video and upload it to the Internet, either YouTube or FTP, my images are blurry and out of focus, although this was not the case with the original images. Please advise. Ulanda

It would be helpful if you could link an example. A video is worth 10,000 words and will make it easier for us to help you. Win8 64-bit Pro Retail

I'm actually having a similar situation... Everytime I try and create a slideshow, the photos turn out blurry. Why is that? I have the full version of PD:7 Deluxe. I guess I have a lot of learning to do...I just got it last night.

Hi,

There are a multiple number of formats in PD7 - so the action and selections you make need to be identified.

Question: did you select Produce/Mpeg2 or/and Create disc > etc

Before I comment I want you to provide more data.

Dafydd

Read and carry out please.

Hi Ulanda,

I’m just taking a shot in the dark here, and I may be way off, but...

I followed your link to the Youtube video, and noticed that one of your tags in the description box was... MAQ00001. I believe MAQ00001 references the Mp4 PSP profile (which size is 320x240). So I assume, as it was included as a tag in your description, that you used this profile to upload your video to Youtube.
This is not a preferred profile if attempting to get optimum quality on Youtube.

Here is a link to the formats that Youtube suggests one uses for uploads.

If your video and images looked fine in PD, then using the MAQ00001 setting/profile when uploading to YT, may be one reason why your production looks a little blurry on your Youtube channel.

Well, my slideshows are blurry even before they're produced...is there an option somewhere to change settings?? I'm at work right now, so I won't be able to provide much info, but will do as soon as I leave the office. Btw, what's the best quality that can be posted on Youtube? I tried using MPEG-4 for Facebook, but didn't work...MPEG-2 did. Perhaps Youtube isn't as restrictive in terms of formats accepted.

There is a quality setting for 3D slideshows in the preferences area.
Its located on the 'Produce' tab of the preferences settings.

There is no 'Best Quality' settings for youtube. I have found that using bitrates above 3000 and producing files for 1280x720 kicks in the YouTube HD viewing option. That means people viewing your videos will be able to watch in the higher quality, larger size video viewer, which is nice, even if its not true HD.

You do not need an HD camera for that to work, but obviously the better resolution of your source material the better the final product.

Youtube will accept almost any video format you can give it. What matters is the framesize and the bitrate. For example, look at this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs86GNXIAes This is not HD content, yet it can be viewed as HD on youtube because I rendered it as 1280x720 with a 3000kbps bitrate. If there's lots of movement/motion/animation in your content, you will want to increase the bitrate, but it takes much longer to upload.

One gripe I have with editing videos is the uploading part...maybe if we were in South Korea with their 100+mb (soon-to-be 1000mb) d/l bandwidth, things would be different... I have the Core i7 and nVidia GTX 260 216 cores (CUDA), so editing is fairly quick for me, sometimes near instant.

I'm sorry to jump off topic, but can we d/l more slideshow templates?

Not that I've seen. There's tons of stuff online for powerdirector, just not slideshow templates.

I have personally used Microsoft Photo Story 3 in conjunction with PD7 since it produces smoother motion effects, but I do most stuff in PD7. Win8 64-bit Pro Retail

d/l? Not sure what that means.
If you join SMWoV, there are 3D slideshow templates that self-install to replace the originals. They all have different themes.
Now, for the blurry video...Ulanda, do you have the preview window in PD set to the highest quality? Under your preview window, the button 3rd from the right, sets the visual quality for when you are editing. Keep in mind, sharper preview is more demanding on your computer, so use it accordingly. Maybe this is part of the blurry issue.

Hi Guys,

As outlined in previous posts :
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/5585.page

youtube quality is a moveable feast. It's worth looking at :-
http://help.youtube.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=132460&topic=16612

Given youtube's 'dynamic' approach it's difficult to be specific for any system/connection setup etc etc..

I produce to the highest quality I require then convert for upload. I experimented recently and settled for .mp4 conversion with Super ©. Dafydd produced a video on the method:
http://seemyworldonvideo.com/view/425/youtube-hd-tutorial/,

OnTheWeb also produced a video on upload speeds :
http://seemyworldonvideo.com/view/436/powerdirector-7-youtube-upload-advantage/

It would be great to have a definitive answer and a single piece of software that did everything but I'm 57 and I can't wait that long.....

Cheers
Adrian
