Will not open file...will show all related media in library (music clips, video clips) but will not open full movie in any view. Everytime I try to bring something down to work in the program, there is an error message stating "operation failed' and the program removes the item. As of yesterday, I completed a full 33-minute movie that took me countless hours to complete. Now it seems to have disappeared? Please help! Thanks!

Hi,
I'm going to ask a few question to get more information for you - so members can help you, please answer them as briefly as possible and in a logical manner. (stick to the facts)

Where did you save the project to (location of the project file *.pds)?

Right:
What version of PD are you using = File > Help > About > version details?

Neil
Use option "Open project". You will be prompted "Save project ?". Click ""No"
You will be prompted again "Would you like to merge your project's media files with the current files in the library". Click "Yes". PD will add the file into your media library.

Hi Babdi, I have tried that and nothing happens except the file name is displayed at the top of the screen, I have tried it with some other files and it works OK, I think the file has a problem, how can I retrive from the back up file?

Thanks for your reply

Neil,

Check your save location for a backup file {projectname}.pds.bak. If you have one, rename it to .pds and see if that will open for you.

Cheers

Hi Neil,
I'm a bit disappointed you didn't give the version of PD you are using. As both you and Tricia have reported the "same" event it would be really good to know IF there was a bug that is causing this and IF it was being replicated in your systems.

A PD crash may be preventable if you'd applied the latest patch - a previously corrected issue.
Use "Save Project as" - this is what WE all do. and save to a different pds file.
Overwriting a complexed saved pds is fraught with likely issues. You have basically learnt a valuable editing lesson - save to a new file and always have a back up/fall back.

Opening a pds with either wordpad or notepad can, if you know how to, allow you to add or alter the pds' script. In your issue here I really don't know if it will help.

Neil,
PD7 ok,
Now look in:
Directors Chair icon > File > Help > About and look for the build version numbers.

Check for latest build version/patch. The first link is located at the top of the CyberLink web pages.

Hola, alguien puede ayudarme.
Me he comprado el DVD Suite Centra, en el cual viene el PWD7, pero despues de instalarlo me sale el siguiente mensaje:
Runtime Error!
C.\...\...Cyberlink\PowerDirector\PDR.exe

Que puedo hacer, para que funcione el PWD7?.
Gracias.
