Preview Screen Bad Quality / Blurry HELP

Hi I am new to Power Director, I am having an issue with the quality displayed in the preview and am concerned that that will be the quality of the final product.

I have viewed the clips in windows media player and they are crystal clear.. However when I put them into Power director and preview in the preview screen they are blurry and look shit.

I have the preview screen quality set to full HD and have it set to real time however its still shit quality.

I know the quality of the actual video clip is not bad as I have viewed it in other players, I geuss my question is once it is rendered will it come out in 1080p full hd? or will it remain in this shit blurry quality.

And/OR is there something I am not doing right when importing the files to Power director from my Desktop?

Cheers Joel

Dear Joel, welcome to the volunteer forum.
We try to keep a family-friendly kind of discourse here so please restrain yourself from describing things as "poop".sealed
Anyway, it would help to know what type of file and from what camera you are getting poopy previews!
And if you could provide a dxdiag about your computer, attached, it would go a long way in analysing your problem. Maybe you could even attach a 5-10 second sample of a file directly from the camera, no editing. Last i want assure you that the preview quality does not affect the final outcome.

It seems to be a common misconception that the preview window is something more than an editing tool. Setting the quality at anything higher than you need to see your edits is a waste of computing power. If you've got a 'real beast' of a computer then it won't matter but for most of us it just slows things down unnecessarily.

You speak of "other players" but the preview window is not there to be used as a player, it's just for previews in the same way perhaps that an artist would not put his rough sketches on display at an exhibition of his work.

The real question as you say is what are the finished videos like and the way to find that out surely is to do a test render. In my experience, the end results are indistinguishable from my source material.

Perhaps there are residual 'shadow files' still existing, which 'take over' in preview mode.

Check this video, it explains it very well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDIMAy5lDec

Thanks Frank, This answered my question, once I rendered it and produced it came out full quality.

I found it difficuly coming from using final cut pro on mac where the preview quality is the final quality...

Cheers
