Moving arrow that grows

Hi

I would like to make a moving and growing arrow or such graphics.

Imagine a map where I wanna show which road I took from town A to town B. That trip is illustrated with an arrow which grows in length from point A until the entire trip is marked when reaching point B.



I imagine this is very basic graphic stuff, but I do not know how to make it



Anyone got some good ideas ?

In addition to Tony's guidance I wish to add ROUTE GENERATOR, a freeware with plenty of options. Although I stay within PD and Cyberlink as much as possible there are times when I go off the reservation. Route Generator

There isn't an arrow but you can make one. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
