Title attributes & Save
[Post New]
Hello everyone !

I am using Power Director 13. I import a bunch of sports clips and what I want is to insert a title with the name of the scorer everytime the camera focuses on them.

Now, I have done this work in Photoshop and exported a .png file for each player of the team (includes name, number, club colors & logo). In PD13 I insert the appropriate card-title-png for the scorer on video track 2, click "Modify" and do my work in that editor. Which means adding the appropriate keyframes for transparency to ;

go from 0 to 100 in the first second (0-1), stay there for 3 secs (1-4) and degrade again to 0 in the last second (4-5).
So, this title lasts 5 secs.

Naturally, I need to save this title for every player, so that I won't have to go through the keyframe procedure every holly time someone scores.

One thing is ; HOW is it done ? !!!
Second is, I try the title designer and there is no opportunity to add keyframes. I get to think I'm missing something. What is it ?

Thank you in advance !

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to achieve, but so far as the title designer is concerned: In the title room, drag the default title box down to the timelineline and place in, say, track 2. highlight it by clicking on it, then click "modify" above the timeline. The designer page will open where there are keyframes under the preview screen and most other things you could desire to do with a title. If this is not what you want try explaining again in a little less complicated way.

My general purpose is double ;

(1) to create a title, using all the available opportunities (keyframe attributes etc.) to my likes.

(2) to save this title for future use, so that I won't have to redesign everything every single time I need it.

Purpose no.2 has been sorted out in the meantime.

As regards no.1, I know of 2 options, in both of which I import the .png file and place it on video track 2.

(1a) I treat it as PiP. I click Modify and the PiP Desgner window opens.
I can play with keyframes etc, save my work and load it at a later instance from the PiP Card of PD's left column.

(1b) I treat it as Title, which sounds more appropriate for this task, anyway. I click Modify and the Title Designer window opens.
There is no keyframing option and the Object Settings palette is there but everything is greyed out. So, the whole keyframing "toolbox" is not available. The object will appear in my film only as the Title Designer's default attributes. I can't change them. Question ; why is that, what am I doing wrong ?

See the attached: Are you saying that you do not see the same view when you click to modify a title. If that is the case, what version of PD are you using and what build? Is this a trial version??

Yes, this is what I mean. I attach a screenshot of my screen. Please check it. The .png is clicked and it also appears as selected object in the top left corner of the screen. Everything seems the same, except there are no keyframes.

Once again, thank you for taking the the time to assist me.

By the way, I use PD 13 Ultra, version 13.0.3130.0. I bought it from the Cyberlink e-store.

I'm not at my computer, but this is what I think.

The .png you have created has the wording embedded and can therefore only be keyframed as PIP.

Your title designer is not allowing keyframing because you are not putting any editable text in. As I see it, if you want to use the title designer, what you need to do is: create a new . PNG without any wording and place this in track 2. Then go to the title room and drag the default title template down to the title track. Now if you double click on the title, the title designer should open, and keyframing should now be possible. Of course, the template in title track must directly below your .png. All you need to do then is match the keyframe attributes of the png to the title, assuming that's what you want.

You could also try adding the modified png as a background in the title designer Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

Well, I tried it and it works. Then it has to be combined/synced with the background (either inserted through the PiP Designer or as Image in the Title Designer) and so on. I need to study and experiment with the Title Designer a bit more to feel comfortable with it, but so far it does look like the PiP module suits me best.

Thank you for the advice and the insight on the Title Designer ! I has really guided me to learn and understand a few things.

If you put your default title in the timeline and modify it by adding the red background to it you can "save as" and whatever you save it as will be available in the text room under "custom" templates - what could be easier. Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,
