Evening forum,

I just purchased PowerDVD 16. I have Win 10 on post Anniversary updates. After installation, I tried to start up PD 16 and waited. Nothing started and nothing was in task. So I looked online, went to your website, downloaded the latest update for 16 and then started again and nothing. So now I am asking you, what is the next step?

Does no one from Cyberlink work on the weekends or check the boards? I submitted ticket and asked on forum but no replies from either.

Never mind you guys fail. It's sad that a customer can buy a product, have problems and have not one reply from anyone but himself. I have figured the problem out myself. For those having any issues like mine, here it was I did. First I uninstalled it, then I turned off virus protection even though it did not block it or think it was a virus. I reinstalled software but this time instead of under Programs (x86) I installed under C:\PowerDVD16. This time I actually got to the screen where it ask for registration key. I can now actually launch the program and use it as intended. I hope this helps someone else so they do not have to rely on or attempt to rely on a non existing customer service.

Hi,

I'm having same problem. Trying to resolve by myself but no progress...

I think the problem it's the registry or file tag for PowerDVD15 trial.

I had PowerDVD15 trial for 30 days two years ago, and still installed on the PC.

When I put a BD on the drive the Activation tell me that the trial has ended and have 0 days left, and showed a link to the store to buy the new year promo, thing that I did.

After downloading PowerDVD16 and install, nothing happens. No errors, no blanks, nothing. You double click the PowerDVD16 icon and nothing...

I tried administrator mode/compatibility...etc.

Then I found that the file activation.exe on the main folder of PowerDVD16 brings me back the previos advice, that my PowerDVD15 trial has ended.

That activation.exe checks for trial expired, but didn't have a option to register neither v15 or v16.

I used revo to uninstall everything, v15 and v16, i searched the full registry and files, i deleted everything. I quit antivirus, and firewalls... Restarted multiple times, and reinstalled v16 with everything clean...

...and same v15 trial advice on activation.exe...

Please support guys, check yourself, follow the steps (install 15 trial, let it end trial, and then install commercial version of v16), and you will find the issue.

Bring us an activation.exe that we can overwrite and use to register the program. Or steps to manual activate it.

And please bring us a solution, I bought the program just to play some movies to my little girls this holidays, and I cant.

I know you cant tell us what registry or file we have to delete, as can be used to reset trial period, but we are legit users and have no access to something that a simple crack from a hack website will do easily. But I don't want to risk my PC to virus or rasomware. No when I just paid the program and can't use it.

Data:

  • Windows 10 full updated

  • Webroot antivirus (disabled)

  • Spanish on everything (I tried english install)

  • Malwarebytes (disabled)

  • Triple screen with GTX970 (24"+29uw+24")

...Just in case, but I still think the problem is the damn activation.exe...

Thanks a lot.

Hi again,

I solved the problem in my Windows 10 PC.

I did two things at a time, so I can't be certain which one was the necessary, if you have both, please test by one, and reboot on each, so we can isolate the culprit.

  • First I uninstalled ALL Python interpreter versions I had. This is the one I really think is the key. PowerDVD relies on Python for some functions (I think for registering CDKEY too), so I wonder it needs his own integrated right version of python interpreter alone.

After uninstalling Python I rebooted and my PhotoDirector 7 started to work (was having the same issue of not starting), then I reinstalled PowerDVD, and voilá...

  • Uninstalled Intel Graphics driver. I did this because I read on other post that it have problems with Intel/Nvidia adapters on same PC (remember that most intel modern processors integrate intel graphics). Anyway, I had the Intel adapter disabled on BIOS (all my screens are connected to the Nvidia), but I just uninstalled for being sure.

After this two steps, PowerDVD reinstall and rebooting , both PowerDVD 16 and PhotoDirector 7 runs perfect, and allow registering.

Don't forget anyway to disable all antivirus/antimalware before install or execution, just for registering purpose (later they must run with both enabled)

Hope this help somebody

Hi All,

My problem seems to have been caused by a problem with missing microsoft dlls (MSVCP1*.dll). I have downloaded

vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe from https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/Download/confirmation.aspx?id=14632.

After choising repair, I was able to start PowerDVD16 et register.
