PowerDirector13 - Suddenly won't offer more than 2 video/picture tracks

Anyone know why PD13 might suddenly be doing two things:

1) In editing mode, it suddenly offers only two tracks to lay down video or pictures. It used to offer 4 or 5 or more.

2) Suddenly doesn't synch audio and video in editing mode.

Thanks.

PD13 is available in different versions. Please see this sticky and supply part A and part B: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/40225.page . Let us now when and where you obtained the PD13. Was it part of a limited edition release?

I purchased online as a download. Don't exactly remember when. I don't know if it was a limited edition release. I don't think so. The version is PowerDirector Deluxe. 13.0.3516.0

Will add one more thing, because, as I am still trying to use PD, it's going from bad to worse.

As I try and edit, not only are audio/video not synchronized, but it keeps jumping from one point in the video to the end of the video as I try and watch and edit.

The PD13 deluxe version has 100 total video tracks. The HE, DE, or LE versions can be limited to 7 total video tracks which includes the fx, title, music, voiceover tracks. Having only 2 video tracks is correct for those versions.

See this old post : http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/45373.page#234232 . The links are no longer available for the PD13 info. Cyberlinlk changed all those links to the newer PD15. You did not supply the full info of the build and SR number but having the 2 video tracks is correct for the versions listed.

No. Having two tracks is not normal for the version I have. Your first sentence states the Deluxe Version (which I have) has 100 tracks. My first entry in this thread states I had many more (i never counted them) ever since I bought the product (a year or two ago). I've been limited to only two video tracks beginning TODAY. For some reason, the program arbitrarily is limiting my tracks now.

Didn't know you wanted the serial number. Don't think you asked me for that. Here it is.

VDE151112-01

Don't know what you mean by providing "full info for the build." Please elaborate. I'm not an IT person. Thanks.

Having only two video track showing is normal for all PD13 versions. Try this: Right mouse click in Track Manager (the left bottom part of the screen) and click Add Tracks... in the popup window. Type 90 and click the OK button. Move the scroll bars on the right bottom of the screen. Let us know if you see 92 tracks now.

YES. That did it. Thanks.

Do you know what I might do about PD suddenly not synching audio/video, plus jumping around on the track, while i edit? I can produce a clean movie, it just won't work properly in edit mode.

Thanks again for the first fix.

Chris

The supplied DxDiag.txt show that this laptop should be sufficient for editing HD 1080 video. There would be symptoms that you described if editing 4k video or using the color enhancements on the video. Simple cuts type editing should present no video audio sync problems. Try this: enable shadow files and let them finish before continuing to edit to see if it helps.

You may be using camera video different from what you used in the past. A mediainfo on the video that you are trying to edit now can help to clarify the issues.

You have many windows errors reported in the diagnostic part of the report that need to be fixed if possible.

Hi,
I've been unavailable, so sorry for the delay.

I already had Enable Shadow Files checked.

Nothing at all has changed on my front end. I'm using the same camera. Didn't change anything in settings or on my PC or operating system. The lagging, hanging and unsynched audio/video while editing just arbitrarily began the same time the extra tracks disappeared.

I don't know what you mean by 4k video or color enhancements. I suppose it's possible either I or the system accidentally changed a setting. I don't see where I might turn on/off color enhancements and, again I have no idea what you mean by 4k video.

Can you please tell me where I will find the radio button or other switch for color inhancements? Any setting I can change regards to 4k video???

Any other ideas as to what might be going on and how to fix it?

THanks

Chris

4k video would be the output format of your camera. The size. Enhancements would be something you added during editing by clicking one of the buttons above the time line. __________________________________

Do you think the Windows errors are probably causing this? Nothing else has changed on my end. I am using the same, simple, camera and same PD settings I've previously used without the problems I'm now having.

Can you offer what you think is the best way to analyze and fix windows errors? Is there a native part of windows that will do that? Or should I seek more updates at microsoft? Thanks again.

Quote Anyone know why PD13 might suddenly be doing two things:

Usually when things appear out of the blue like this it's because something has auto-updated silently. Is your PC set to do this?

You could try performing a System Restore to a time before the problems appeared. Regards,

I did restore Windows to a point prior to the problem beginning, but that hasn't changed anything. I appreciate the help though. Hate to keep bothering folks, but any other ideas of what it could be and how I might resolve? It's making editing videos incredibly slow and amazingly frustrating. Thanks.

Try this. Shut down and turn off the computer. Restart. If nothing changes, re-install your PD. You shouldn't loose any of your work.
