Hi gasjkh3 -

You've been getting some good advice from Longedge, Fenman, Carl & CS.

I'm glad you're beginning to rethink what you do with the footage you shoot with your DJI Phantom 3. Burning to DVD is quite an appalling thing to do to 4K clips! Especially when you're going to view them on a 4K TV! surprised

That process is the reason you're seeing that tearing or combing (interlacing effects). Your starting with 4K/UHD clips 2160p - rendering or burning to DVD format 720x480 - then your player is upscaling when you view it on your 4K TV. In relative terms, it's kinda like this:

As Longedge suggested, you'd get far better results by leaving out the middle step completely. Stream it, transfer it to a thumb/external drive or burn to BR & you'll be happier.

Attached is a screenshot showing a UHD 3840X2160 clip (on the left) and the DVD version of the same frame (on the right)... and that's a still frame. It looks terrible when panning, which is difficult not to do with a drone!

Cheers - Tony

Hi All

I just want to say a BIG THANKYOU to you all of you!

I have had success! I was pulling my hair out yesterday and losing faith in human civilisation. So this is what I did after all your help on this forum.

1. I uninstalled PD9
2. Re-installed PD14 Ultimate
3. Found my earlier projects in PD14.
4. Took your advice (ynotfish, your picture was so good) and instead of trying to burn to DVDs, I decided to use a USB flash drive as Longedge and CS2014 had also recommended.
5. I produced an MPEG2 file via PD14.
6. Then used Easefab to convert the file to a playable video format on the USB flash drive
7. Inserted the USB flash drive into my Blu-Ray player and played it.
8. It plays absolutely stunningly
9. The player also has an upscaling facility and the picture quality is stunning through the 4K TV.

I am just really pleased and just want to thank you all for your help as without this I would have failed.

I will try to work out how to upload to You Tube next.

Once again THANKYOU - what a great forum.

Thanks Rich

You are quite welcome Rich!

If you could please - go back into the very FIRST thread or window that you described this issue with and edit the subject line and include the word "SOLVED' or something like that. This way anyone having a similar issue might search and find this and it might help them out too.

Take care and have fun 'droning' and editing.

Hi All, I have now uploaded my 1st video to Youtube, any feedback would be appreciated.

I have struggled to get a smooth pan across the lake (bit juttery, any advice appreciated) but otherwise for my first attempt I am fairly happy.

Feel free to view as this forum created this video for me! I would have failed without all the help and advice.

It plays very well on my 4K Hi Res TV and is tack sharp!!
