Looking for help. I've mentioned a few times of how PD14 seems to be "hanging on me" when using features such as layers, transitions and in this case speed changes. No doubt its getting worse of late. (BTW, verified NVIDIA drivers are all up to date)

https://youtu.be/EaCQJtK4fOM

This video was produced overnight and to be honest -- I don't know if it blinks like this in PD14 as I can't view anything before producing. Even in LOW setting, pressing play to review the project is useless. This 1 min vid takes about 4 min's to view and the audio finishes 3 min's sooner. In 4k --- forget it.

Here is background on the video: ALL shot in 4k/24 FPS, all shot with same camera. Clips are of different length and the speed adjustments in the clips all vary in how much speed was added. (none are slowed down) Where the worst blinks are visible are clips with the fastest increase in speed, so my assumption is processing is the problem. This 1 min. clip took about 3.5 hours to process and from the forums I believe my settings should be a very safe to make 4k output. (this particular clip was sent straight to youtube, so I just chose 4k) [Transitions are from SET ALL drop down as "Overlap Transition"]

Any Tips or Suggestions? Even though I'm making this for a friend, NOT as a commercial transaction, I want this to look good for them, so I'd like to clean it up and be as smooth as I can.

let's use cpu only...

disable Fast Video Rendering Technology - Hardware Video Encoder

way down left corner right before you press 'Start'

and disable Preferences - Hardware Acceleration - Enable Hardware Decoding

see if that makes any difference...

your system might be using ultra slow integrated GPU, intel HD4600(703) than GTX 745(2161).

my 3 years old comp with 1 year old GTX 950(5241) rendered 1 min. 4K clip in 6.5 minutes and no HA in 8.75 min.

your results should be in between my results.

of course this will not fix why or what your comp makes it so painful.

oh happy happy joy joy

Pepsi Man - I've turned all of the options off / on to include combinations of . . . I'm thinking 'now' that is something to do with the color grading steps. Each clip has significant color grading . . . so I made go back to square one and start again.

Do you edit (color) of each clip as you go . . . or is there a means to get ALL clips aligned near the final stages, then color grade ALL ? (MAY not work for me in this situation due to lighting issues) I've seen the steps to create a PRESET so that maybe the option to get into a near final color grade then tune from there???

Thx again for the reply ~
