Cannot select menu items on the DVD menu playing movie in dvd player

Hello once again.

I was able to produce and burn a movie to disc. However when I went to play the disc in a dvd player, I cannot select the menu buttons/text icons to play the movie or browse to the chapters.

None of the the buttons are highlighted on the menu, and you cannot navigate from one to the next.

The highlighting, play, navigating to chapters, work in "preview" mode, but do not when the dics is burnt.

Thanks for all the help and advise you can provide.

More information.

I'm not using video thumbnail, and the autoplay time is set to 60 secs. background music is also set to 60 secs, but the automenu timeout thing is not selected.

I hope this helps with diagnosis of the problem

They probably won't because they only address designing a menu . . . not the lack of menu highlighting that John is experiencing in the finished DVD.

I'm having that same problem and in searching the forums, It seems to have been delt with before . . . but I have not seen a solution . . . check out this forum . . .

Also, John, I find that the menus do work on the disk, even though you can't see the highlight. On the main screen the "Play" button will be set when you first load the DVD . . . hit enter on your remote and the video will play. If the chapter button is below the play button on your menu, hit the down arrow on your remote, then the enter key brings you to the "Chapters" page. If "chapter" is to the left, hit the left button on your remote, etc. Once on the chapter page, the first chapter is selected. You can count arrow clicks of your remote to navigate to the other "chapter" buttons, then hitting enter will play that chapter . . . kind of a braille way of doing it.

I sure hope they get this bug fixed as PD7 is an excellent program otherwise.

BTW the menu highlight problem does not seem to appear if you just use the templates as they are.

Sometimes checking "Enable Video Thumbnails" helps with this.

Hi Paul,

>Create Disc> configure preferences (spanner bottom left of centre) >menu tab >check box.

Paul,

"Enable Video Thumbnail" can be found as follows . . .

Click "Create Disc" tab . . .

At the very bottom of the page you will see an Icon with a wrench in it . . .
this is the "Configure Disk Preferences Button"

Click it and then click the "Menu" tab in the window that comes up . . . there it will be.

This fix, provided by "JL" really fixed the highlighting menu problem for me . . .
