OK, Neil, your observation is great though it SEEMS to imply that Cyberlink does NOT provide a Buy-a-disc option or written material, you can buy the former, as well as extended download period, and for the latter a written booklet can be downloaded.
Barry, I'm lamenting this rush to get away from retail disc packages that seems to be the trend lately. My version of PD14
is a store-bought DVD package which I purchased from a nearby
Harvey Norman store last November. But on a recent visit to a retailer, namely
Office Works in the nearby city of Newcastle, I saw that much of the software was in the form of cards which gave details about downloading, plus whatever codes were used to enable such. My concern may be that, when PD15 is released later this year, or early next year, it will only be accessible via download. I see Steven70's problems seem to be linked with this download method, and any patches he's downloaded and installed, all get lumped in with the original software download, in the PD14 folder.
From my own experience, I've found installing Power Director from a store-bought disc package to be my best bet. I'm somewhat wary of downloading PD software, or any software for that matter because of the inherent risk of a computer virus "hitching a ride" into your system on the back of such a download(such a case happened to me last year when I downloaded Microsoft's ICE -
Image Composite Editor for installation on my computer. Luckily my AVG was able to isolate it and I could then safely remove it). I'm not saying a virus
will infect a Power Director download but there's no sense in tempting fate.
Neil.
