I have a external Blu-Ray rewrite drive which might work but my sons don't have a Blu-Ray player. Not ready to create Blu-Ray coasters just yet. Creating plenty DVD coasters now. Desire to create on regular DVD drive. This to me still doesn't answer why Premiere output DVD plays just fine.

I do appreciate any and all suggestion..Thanks

If PD14 turns out to not work for me, what product might? If I have to switch, would I be able to get a refund?

Thanks

I already typed a response an hour ago on the other tab on IE but it still isn't sent.

Thank you for showing the ‘My process:’ with the 3 steps you use. There should be no field reversal for the process unless missing information is the cause in PD14 to encode incorrectly. Users with the Canon avchd camcorders may be more familiar with this.

Three of the possible causes are below:

Your Canon VIXIA HF R300 records in both avchd (interlaced TFF), 30p (progressive) and mp4 (progressive) and the first clip on the timeline you placed is a mix.

You are importing the avchd video with the .mts extention directly from the sdxc card instead of using the Pixela software to add the extra clip information to convert to m2ts.

The hardware encoding you use in the final output screen is causing the problem.

Try this first:

Highlight the clip on the timeline right mouse click and click view properties. Check that the Video type reads interlaced and not progressive.

Right mouse click and click Set Clip Attributes/Set TV Format…and see if the settings are interlaced, TFF.

If you shot avchd in the 30p progressive modes then the steps 1 and 2 above should read progressive. You can check the information with mediainfo. See this link for Part J: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/45453.page .

Use a DVD+RW to be able to reuse the disc. Uncheck Hardware Encoding in the Final burn window.

Let us know what you find above. I had typed this neatly using 1, 2, 3...on the other tab in IE but that tab remained frozen. Copy everthing to this tab without the 1,2,3... This forum is having problems with hangs and non responsiveness.

Hi

I copy my mts file from sd card to external HD folder using Windows Explorer. HD shows .MTS . I stopped
using camera to transfer files to HD when I was recording
on Mini DV tapes. I had a camera go bad because I thought using it to record and transfer files. Cameras weren't cheap like today. Also transfers would stop and fail sometimes. Jumped to camera that records to sd card. Now only use camera to record. Should I be converting mts to m2ts?

Timeline-right click
-view properties-Video Frame type = Interlaced
- Set Clip Attributes-Set TV Format selected is
'This video clip is interlaced, and the field order
is top field first'. Did not see TFF.

Since saw interlaced and not progressive, I have not performed your 'Part J' link. Was my thinking correct?

I will try again and uncheck Hardware Encoding in Final burn window. I only have 1 mts file input for this test.
I will use DVD-RW. Don't have +RW at the moment.

I've been doing this recording stuff for years. Started when our oldest was coming home from the hospital. He's soon to be 45. Recorded on Super 8 with no sound.
Then 8 mm, MiniDV, now sd card.

Thanks...Harry

Your checks show that your mts files are okay as is to import to PD14. You do not need to convert them with the Pixela software. TFF is short for top field first. I understand your reasoning for copying them from the SD card.

DVD-RW use is fine. Most users use DVD+RW because of the higher burn speed of 4x and 8x is possible among other things like the burner also support it and their dvd player also works with it in testing.

Try this first:

Under Preferences/Hardware acceleration uncheck both checkboxes. Uncheck the Hardware encoding in the Final burn window.

Let us know the result of this created dvd.

P.S. Happy to know that you also started in movies back with Super 8 film with those 50’ 3 minute cartridges. It got expensive to do a lot of that Kodachrome Type A. sealed

The test before your last post went great. Played on both DVD players on big TV. I will try again with Preferences/ Hardware acceleration - both boxes unchecked. Only 'Enable hardware decoding' was checked.

If this goes well, and I expect it will, I will try a previous large project ... 14GB of mts files and a menu. That will be the proof in the podding, as they say.

Will let you know how it goes.

Yes tapes were very expensive. At one point I would create my project on Beta (believed better quality than VHS) then reuse my 8 mm tapes. Mini DV tapes were better and cheaper and could keep as originals. Have a ton. Now in process of coping all tapes to external HDs. Great that storage size went up and price down. There are some events on Beta that I wish I had on DVD. Is there a good service you know that I can get them copied to DVD or something?

Thanks Tomasc for your help...Harry

Last test with all boxes unchecked you wanted went great.

Found DVD+RW and it worked great.

Now will try large 14GB input project with a menu.
Will report results.

I like burning to iso file and use it to burn as many DVDs as I want. I know how to do it on PD14.

Question - Which of the following will give the best quality DVD output - right clicking iso and selecting 'Burn disc image' (Win10), use a preferred pgm, or burning straight to DVD with PD14? Same question for Blu-Ray output.

Thanks...Harry

Glad to hear that everything went well and that you are successful in creating a good dvd.

In the Final output window there are checkboxes for Burn to Disc and Number of copies with a default of 1. The other checkboxes are for Save as disc image and Create a folder. You should leave the Number of copies as 1.

I prefer Create a folder over Save as disc image because I can check and play the Video_TS folder with vlc or other software player to check the menu and chapter selection and videos just like on a regular dvd player without a physical dvd. If I made a mistake or typo in the titling then I will see it without the need to burn a dvd from an image first to see my mistakes.

You already have experience creating a dvd and to choose your own preference. For your first one you can check all 3 checkboxes and decide later which you prefer. The quality will be the same on all three. Both Imgburn and Power2Go will burn from folder or image. I am not familiar with win 10 iso burning. Someone else can answer that.

Good luck on your next project.

P.S. I had lots of SuperBeta tapes but a dead player. I beleive that there are contributors on this forum that do the conversions from tape to dvd. It is best to start a new topic post to get their attention. Barry is one that comes to mind. I have seen local pharmacies advertise this type of sevice. This is in the U.S. of course.

Hello, Obx02!

You can do this yourself! You only need a capture device connected between your computer and the A/V outputs of your Beta=format VCR. Assuming t6he VCR is a hi-fi stereo deck, the outputs will be RCA connections: white = left ch., red = right ch., for audio, video out will be either a yellow RCA or a BNC(Bayonet) connection(for which a BNC-to-RCA lead will be needed). Connect these outputs on the back of your VCR to the appropriate connections on the capture device, then connect the capture device to your computer via a spare USB port, give a short time for the computer to "recognise" the capture device, then when you open Power Director(Version 14 back to whatever other version you might also have), select "Capture", make whatever profile settings you want, click on the Record Icon while pressing "Play" on the VCR, and you're "rolling!". In relation to your original question, glad that all worked out okay for you.

Cheers!

Neil.
