I created my own DVD Menu (imported my own image and sound file) and didn't have Items 1 thru 3, but I couldn't delete the "My Video" text box, either.

But I could edit it, so I replaced the text with a space character, which is invisible.

As I recall, all you have to do is double-click on the text. You should see a thin, vertical cursor between the characters.

Hi Mathew and Jeff,

Your perception as to the "My Video" and item 1,2,3 being a nuisance or you have an inability to edit is incorrect.

Open Menu Designer and edit the general look of the menu template. The POSITIONAL titles of My Videos and Items are there to show you where on the TEMPLATE the two sets of information will appear.

Items 1,2,3, etc are POSITIONS PLACES where the CHAPTER names will appear AFTER the Template has been saved or selected in Create Disc.

"My Videos" in Menu Designer, as stated, is the Positional position for your title in the TEMPLATE. Go to Create Disc AFTER you have selected/saved your template and alter the name "My Videos" by double clicking on it and writing/deleting the name My Videos to your OWN TITLE.

Please get this right and if you have further difficulties ask.

Please follow the link Adrian has provided - you will benefit from the information.

I'm sorry to still be the dunce in the group but.....

I still cannot edit the Menu Template.
I am in "Author" on the Create Disc Menu.
I select the menu I want and select Modify. From here, I edit all the other features of the menu that I want. I can edit the format of the text, effects, etc.. That I understand.

But it does not let me double click on the Text box to actually edit the title and put my own letters in. I can only double click and edit a new text box I insert.

I save the modications to the menu and when it returns me to the "Create Disc Menu" my only other option now is to Burn.

I watched the tutorial and as far as I can tell, it did not specify this.

I have re-read the answer a few times and I have showed the answer to a few other people in the household.

I understand what he is saying - That the title boxes are just positional and allow you to edit the appearance, etc..

But I CANNOT figure out how to edit the words after. He says got to "Create Disc" AFTER you have modified the title template. Well, first of all, as far as I can tell, I can only modify a title template when I am in the "Create Disc" portion of the program in the first place. After I have saved my modified template, I try selecting it and selecting Modify, but still cannot edit the text.

I know that his answer sounds simple to everyone else, but not to me. I will require some additional instructions. Even the tutorial just magically has a different title at the end when we are viewing the final creation. It doesn't show me the steps to get that changed title.

Melody;

I have been one of the many who have struggeled with menu, and some time ago I gave it up, because I had to get a video ready, and therefore used another program, just to solve it.
However, I tried it out this morning, according to Dafydd's answer, and it worked.
If I remember correctly;
Choose a template you want.
In modefy - do all the changes you want; text, buttons etc. BUT - don't, at this point, try to alter My videos or other text. Just modefy it as it is, with colours, shadows a.s.o.

SAVE the template you created -
and when you choose it again for creating disk - then you write in your own text in My video etc.

This worked for me this morning. I did not then have the time to explore
everything. Maybe others will take you further.
Good luck!

Nina

Thank you, I have tried those exact steps, but with no luck. When you are first modifying the Menu template, are you in "Create a Disc" or are you modifying it somewhere else?

Melody;

I had a quick try again.
I'm in Create disk - modify - author.
I'm doing the changes I want - saving it as a new template.
When I choose my new template again in Create disk -
I just click on My video etc. and write in my title, and the same with whatever else I have in my menu.
I of course have to write Norwegian !

If this does not work for you, I suspect maybe you should download and install the patch PDR7_2227c.
This is not really my turf, but it's a patch Dafydd recommends. It's found
on top of Forum Index- PowerDirector(version 6 and above).

Ok, I've got it now. There was one small thing that I wasn't "getting" from all the above instructions. I didn't realize that the second time you modify the template, you don't actually go into "Modify". I didn't realize you could just double click on the template in the "Author" view and do it from there.

Thanks everyone!

Melody, I'm glad you "got it" in the end

Nina, I'm not sure about when or if I'll produce more videos for PD7. All a question of time etc.

My favourite is "Importing Special Overlay Images" because I came up with a solution that has been a real pain to me for a while and it was easy to implement.
