Black Screen on Video Preview Window
[Post New]
Hi guys,

I have Powerdirector 11 and today I opened it to discoverrrr the Preview Window is blank/black.

This is on every file I've opened and whenever I try watching anything on the TIMELINE.

On the other hand, for some reason the preview window DOES work when I watch media from the library.

But issue is I can't edit if I can't see what i'm working on.

I've just updated to Windows 10. I thought this may be a reason but someone I know doing the same has no issue.

Anything I can do?

Thanks!

If it's happened since you updated to Windows 10 that seems the most likely cause.

You might find it useful to have a read through this thread from the PD13 forum as some contributions may have relevance to your problem.

The problem experienced by munchmed1 appears to stem from bumping his computer up to Windows 10. I've had the icon sitting on my toolbar(near the clock) to install W10 for the last few months but, with all the talk going around, it appears Windows 10's a bit of a "lemon"! I'll be playing it ultra-safe and sticking with my Windows 7 Home Premium until such time as this computer "carks it". By then a better Windows platform will be available that won't have W10's foibles!

Cheers!

I'm with you on that Neil. I'm firmly in the camp of "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Once I've got a stable system I'm extremely circumspect about making any changes to it. I was particularly amused by one comment in the thread I linked to regarding 'Pioneers' being the ones out in front - with the arrows in their chests smile Regards,
Mike

Hi, mike!

"Arrows in their chests"? That's just gotta hurt.....Ouch!

Had a look at a YT Video about a tracking effect available on PD14. I said in a new post that I can't wait to get hold of it! I've got ideas to use it swimming around in my head and I ain't even laid hands on PD14 yet! Let me at it! I can't wait, but I might have to wait another week.... those days are a-gonna d-r-a-g by!

Cheers!

Neil.

P.S. It was "Motion Tracker" I was looking at via that YouTube clip. Wow! Geez what I could do with that!

My Windows 8 was pretty broken so in a way I'm glad that I did update. In another way.... Blummin Cyberlink.

What bugs me is it DOES work on my sisters Windows 10 she updated a few days ago. But not on mine. Yet Cyberlink are telling me to buy a newer version? Not if I know it could work some how!!

I've tried the things mentioned on that other thread and had no luck.

Sometimes it does show the video briefly but won't play, just says rendering, plays like 2 frames and then stops again. yes!

Hi, Munchmed1!

A belated welcome to Cyberlink Director Zone, by the way! Your computer might need servicing. Is it a laptop or desktop(Tower CPU)? Take it to your computer technician, he/she may be able to help.

Cheers!

Neil.
