Paul1945,

So here's a challenge, post a test case with sufficient itemized detail and articulation that shows the real benefit of your "Pauls Wildebeest" that any other PC with PD14 will just struggle with. I’ve read so many of your posts that ”fix” your editing experience but have never seen much fact. You pick the demonstration, I’d just like to see it. Be it smooth playback of four 4K streams in multicam designer, video speed adjustment timeline playback, multi effects applied on 4K streams with smooth playback, successful playback of XX number of multi pip 4K streams. You’ve got a lot of experience with modifying "Pauls Wildebeest" to solve editing issues so it should be easy to clearly define a test case that highlights the extreme capability that any other PC would just falter.

I'm not sure if you are trying to insult me here, but if you want to talk about stupidity, as someone who has been building his own PCs since the mid 1990s, I will say that you spent a lot of money unnecessarily in your expensive machine on some parts that won't make much or any difference for PowerDirector. Paul1945, if you've ever got the time, I'd sure appreciate the test case to highlight the beauty of your "Pauls Wildebeest" and PD14 editing experience. I'd think any user struggling with their system could compare to your test case and see how their editing experience could be.

Quote: Paul,

What is this ? Only one CPU socket in your machine ? Not even a pair of Xeon E5-2697 in sight ?

No IPS display ? And only 28" ?

Seriously though, the 2 xGTX 970s are a waste.

A single GTX 960 would have been better.

I would have gone with 7200pm rpm HDDs rather than SSHD, too. I don't see how SSHD can help for video editing. The SSD part is too small to matter. And for caching you have the 64GB RAM in your PC.

How do you like HC-X1000 ? I wonder how it performs indoor or lowlight with the small sensor.

Paul - it a great setup I would love to have. Pro Editors like DaVinci Resolve now have multi-GPU support so your 2 xGTX 970s are not a waste and should be supported by Power Director. Jealousy makes us ugly. wink

With an 8 core 16 thread i7 CPU it looks more like a Buffalo than a Wildbeest!

Quote: Wow, those sequential write SSD speeds are twice as fast as mine and the sequential read speed is 5x higher (about the same as my RAMDrive)!

What's the Transcend series you're using? I think you need them to keep your 8-core Wildebeest CPU busy! No wonder you feel like a teenager tongue-out

Wow is right. That amazing benchmark is due to the Intel 1.2TB SSD. It is 4X Performance vs. SATA based SSDs. I was impressed with my SSD until now. See http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/solid-state-drives/solid-state-drives-750-series.html

2,500 MB/sec sequential read vs my 500.

Bought my PC, specs below, in January of 2010.

Before PD14 I was looking into the purchase of a PC with a faster CPU, but decided not too because of PD14 making use of available GTX960 features.

So by simply adding a $200 GPU card and a $90 SSD for the C drive, my over 5 year old computer is close again to the state of the art as far as video editing is concerned. By that I point to the vastly reduced rendering times. Most other PD14 editing functions would not be materially improved by a faster CPU anyway.

An other update was the shift from a 23" HD monitor to a 24" UHD Viewsonic HDMI 2.0 monitor

WOW
