I've gotten a green screen ever since I updated PD 12 from Windows 8 to Windows 10 o/s. I just found a reference on the forum that fixed my problem:

Under Preferences, uncheck the "Enable hardware decoding".

Apply it and check it out.

I've been stumped for months. Today, this method worked for me.

Thank you everyone!
best wishes,
~ Donna

For clarification and completeness, uncheck the "Enable hardware decoding" under Preferences/Hardware acceleration.

Sorry for the omission. best wishes,

I have PD !2 and updated to W 10 on a Toshiba laptop ad an HP laptop and did find I had the "Green" screen issue. I disabled the "Enable hardware decoding" and that resolved that issue. However, on both machines I can no longer publish a DVD. I now produce a MP4 file and use other software to publish a DVD which is an inconvenience to say the least.

Thank you SO much, I was worried my upgrade to Win 10 from 8.1 on my work laptop (where I do all this editing) had messed up some of the videos of my kids - as far as DVD creation was concerned - the videos play fine in VLC etc, but jerky in PD editing mode and not all of them either, despite coming from the same camera on the same settings, on the same day even sometimes, and often had a green screen at the start.

Disabling 'Enable hardware decoding' in Preferences / Hardware Acceleration fixed it for me too, for those affected videos.

Phew, glad I don't have to pay a mint to upgrade.

Quote I just read a thread on this forum entitled, "Power Director 12 Ultimate stopped working". According to BIGGBryan, he received a message from PD technical support stating that PD12 will only work with Windows 8.1 and lower.

I think this is important information for anyone using an older version of PD and suggest that it be added as a permanent note at the top of this forum.

I am trying to use PD12 and it was working with Windows 10. However, a big Windows 10 update came through yesterday and now PD12 opens and immediately closes with a "stopped working" error. I am so frustrated!! I tried uninstalling PD12 and reinstalling, but it still gives the same error.

Hi TexasGirl,

CyberLink issued this advice last week :

See if this sorts out your problem.

Cheers

I have an HP Pavillion 550-153 that I bought in May 2016. It came with PDR12 preinstalled. It has been working fine. I just finished videos from my vacation. I have 12 .avi files. When I tried to use the DVD maker I had trouble with one of the/avi files. When I pulled the files into the program the computer would stall ... just run and run ... it stalled at 74% uploaded. I eventually had to shut the computer down manually. I deleted the .avi file, thinking I would just go back to the project and make a new .avi file. However when I tried to open PDR12 it won't open. I tried from the shortcut (which has always worked), I tried from the .exe file. Nothing happens. I have not installed or upgraded any files. I am using Windows 10 but that was the OS that was also preinstalled the computer. I ran a troubleshooter and got the message that PDR12 was incompatible. Strange since it has been fine for a year. What more can I do to see what's wrong?

See these posts on what you can do: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/51813.page and this one: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/51734.page . It looks like that the win 10 update is causing problems such as yours.
