Where is the option to NOT auto import produced videos?

I imagine this is a simple question to answer, but I just can't find the right check box. When I produce a video, PowerDirector automatically adds the video to my media library in my project. If I want to move, delete, or overwrite the video file, I can't do it without first removing it from the media library or closing PowerDirector. How can I make it stop automatically importing them?

Actually you are only half right with your cant overwrite as this only applies if you go back to Edit Workspace and then back to Produce and select to write to the same named file rather than accept the alternative sequential numbering of file names. Select, after the file is produced, the link to "Previous", select the same file name (not accepting the sequential numbering), PDR will ask if you wish to overwrite and you can.

The file will only be imported if you view Edit Workspace and a thumbnail is created.

I suggest you opt to Save Project As* and then move to Produce and NOT return to the Edit Workspace. You can create a multiple number of videos while in Produce and when finished, just close PDR.

* numerically naming a new pds file each time, example Sasquatch001.pds, Sasquatch002.pds etc

There is no right click option, see thread: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/40351.page

But to the actual question: Where in PD do you tell it to stop automatically importing the produced video?

I don't think that option exists. If you don't want PD to complain next time you produce just right-click on the imported thumbnail and select 'Remove from library'. This won't delete the produced file, just the shortcut in the media window. Next time you produce PD will ask if you want to overwrite the file. Regards,
Mike

Another option is to make sure you've saved the project before producing, then close PD once the video is finished WITHOUT leaving the Produce screen/tab.

When you re-open PD, you won't have the newly-produced video in your library.

" If you don't want PD to complain next time you produce just right-click on the imported thumbnail and select 'Remove from library'."

Thank you, Mike. That seems to be the least annoying way to get past this.
