Hi there, unless you're computer-shy, it should be relatively easy to achieve the same of very similar title effects as in the reference video. I trust you can find some useful tutorials on PDToots YouTube channel recommended by PlaySound. They're most helpful for beginners and advanced users alike...
To get started, just go to the Title Room: press F7 on your keyboard. You may want to "Create a new title template" by clicking on the corresponding button at the top of the Title Room window (small box with a plus sign); choose 2D Title.
One text box is already open with 'My Title' text in it. You can edit it as well as move around, resize and suchlike. Don't worry to explore all the features on the left hand side of the Title Designer window. You may want to use Character Presets on the Text Tab, for example, or specify your own title look using the other menu options on this tab.
For the text movement effects, you need to go to the other tab: Motion. There, you can select the starting and ending effects. You can change the timing aspects at bottom right. Also, notice that you can set different properties for each text box separately. To insert a new text box, use right clicking in the main window of the Title Designer (double clicking does the same, I think).
That's it, in a nutshell.
The first title in the video you provided the link to uses particles first (the disappearing stars), which seems to be possible right within the Title Designer ("Insert particle" button at the top of the main window) but I have no hands-on experience with this feature. Then the text fades in, which is one of the motion effects available on the Motion tab. The following two titles just use another motion effect; there are quite a few of those and you can check them by rolling over each of them to see what they do or look like.
You may feel overwhelmed by the number of possibilities and combinations thereof but I believe the user interface is fairly user friendly, providing intuitive guidance, and PowerDirector's main strength…
