Preview display issues:
First check for the latest Video Driver for your Video Card.

Check the preview Resolution, set to "High".

Next, Check for the latest QuickTime player.

It is also a good idea to check all of your Basic Motherboard Drivers. The Sound Driver can make strange behavior in Powerdirector.

Update to problem

When you select a clip and click modify the window opens but you cannot see the video just a black screen this is the same in the preview window, when you resize the clip it goes black and if you use edit undo and restore clip it appears again..

This is what i have tried so far Carl....
Lastest video & sound Drivers & Quick time updated
Preview resolution is on high but have tried it on all the other settings
tried new project using default video
have reinstalled pd13

my system is a ASUS G73JW windows 7 64bit Intel Core I7 Geforce gtx460m cuda Blu-ray System so top spec machine

Have you installed the latest 2307 patch? Also try this...

Click the START button, click RUN. In the box type "regedit" and click on OK.

Follow this image http://imageshack.com/a/img401/2749/9sdg.jpg to locate the "Video Renderer" entry in the right-hand column.

Click on it and change VMR7 to VMR9. Click on OK.

Since you're using PD13, substitute that # in the path for PowerDirector 11 seen in the image.

Hi Jeff, Carl & borgus1 -

This is really only a stab in the dark, but it could be related to other similar issues reported with PDR13 - where media is present but "appears" to be transparent (i.e. black). I've had the same problem in Preview & PiP Designer.

Also have changed VMR7 to VMR9

and still have the same problem

Have you tried the same clip in a new project? If it's the same issue I've had, it's quite random.

1. The MediaInfo on the video you're editing,
2. A screenshot of the Edit Workspace with your project insitu.
3. A diagnostic of your PC.
4. What build of PowerDirector 13 you are using.

I had a pip in one of my titles disappear yesterday (go black) when I was resizing it to give it motion around the screen.
The only way I could 'find' it again, was to place the clip in question on a different video line....somewhat below Line 1 and others I was using.
It seemed to be falling 'below' other clips, instead of in the correct order above them. (so being covered.)
Try moving it to a lower video line, that might help ? Jenny

I have this same problem for images (pictures) when you open a project and add more photos.

Beyond the Fade button, which restores the opacity, the other button I used, keyframe / Clip Attribute / Opacity.

A click on the diamond side of the clock.

See if it works for your case.

Tell us if resolved, is a palliative.

Hi All

Thanks to Playsound problem sorted, what caused it I still do not know, However we have a fix if it happens again until Cyberling fix problem in next update......

Select the Clip
Click on Keyfame
Select Clip Attributes
On Opacity - click on clock symbol to reset keyrame from this parameter (you might have to do this twice), or slide lever to 0 then slide it back to 100

This sorted out the problem and I repeated this process on all the offending clips....

I was having exactly the same problem, opacity would go to zero when the clip was resized and I could not work out why because it didn't do it for every clip I had in the video.

To avoid having to activate Opacity to clip one by one.

I add a clip to enable Opacity, then add the others with no problem.

Note: Here are had this problem for reopened project (not all) new project is normal. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

PDR13 is having trouble even displaying its own colour boards! (no MediaInfo report available - sorry)

Having the same problem after installing 13, it does not happen to every video nor to just videos from my camcorder, camera or GoPro. This seemed to fix it after doing all the other suggestions above, Thanks, I paid for phone support but looks like I should have checked here first, what was I thinking!

Can we be advised when a fix for this bug is made?
