Hi Kevin,

Power Director 7 build 1915 can import wma music files, I have just tested by importing 10 wma files, all import and play correctly.

How many wma files have you tried to import, it's possible that you have some corrupted files, can you play these files on other media? If your wma files are OK, I can only suggest that you uninstall then reinstall PD7.

Follow the instructions of Part C in the following link

Thanks, the files do play normally in the windows media player, and if i convert them to mpg they instal in the library and play in the timeline ok, so a reinstall sounds like the way to go first. Do i need to back up my work up as I have several projects on the go in power director. Uninstalling and reinstalling PD7 should not affect your work in progress, as these files are stored in a separate folder, normally the MyWorks folder.

I am in trouble now

Attempted to do reinstall:

a; actioned the unistall programme and unistalled power director
b; attempted to remove the file powewr director in the hkey_local_machine folder and encountered an error and would not delete
c; deleted the power director folder in hkey_current_user successfully
d; There was no power director folder to delete in c:\programs files\cyberlink\
e; Rebooted computor
f; attempted to reinstall software, I stored the download on a pen drive and in my hard drive. Both attempts from these places resulted in a failure due to the message unable to read package contaents as they are corrupt.
It took me approxamatly 18 hours and about 6 or 7 attempts to download the software last time so i am not looking forward to doing it again, nor do i know how to without having to pay again.

I have a HP Pavillion laptop DV5 running vista with a broadband connection. I downloaded pd7 version 1915

I have managed to reinstall the trial version i downloaded but now have limited access and cannot produce anything without the watermark. I cannot understand why the trial version downloaded ok and has not corrupted yet the full version takes so long and so many attempts to download, can i get a hard copy in New Zealand? Hi Kevin,

The fact that you are unable to play wma files with VLC media player could indicate that you have a conflict somewhere.

I have asked Dafydd to look at this post and maybe offer some advice on the PD7 issue, so there will not be an answer for you until tonight.

Hang in there,

Hi Kevin - New Zealand,

Ok, my concern here is with the files you've downloaded and they're reporting to be corrupted. Is this a single exe or a group of winRAR* files you've downloaded. They have different ways of extraction of data but both are compressed file data. Generally these files open and use the Temporary directories to install from. Can you please clear your temporary directory?

Place the downloaded PD7 file (I'm assuming it's a single exe) into a directory in My Documents. Right Click on it and select to Extract to PowerDirectorXXXXX etc. Use winRAR for this.

Let me know how you get on with this.

*I suggest you download and install the winRAR program - used to extract data and to compress files.

I have sent you a PM.

Dafydd
