Keep getting notified to install RichVideo at startup of PD12Ultra "RichVideo is not installed on your system. Click [OK]..." Prior to starting PD12 checked Windows Task Manager and RichVideo services (32 & 64) are installed but "stopped" and cannot be started from WTM "access denied". Also checked msconfig and "RichVideo.." not found in services. Quicktime reinstalled - same message. Do not have option to disable RichVideo in preferences. RichVideo services are not 'started' after PD12 running.

Program Files>Cyberlink>Shared files shows richvideoinstall.exe dated 8/8/2012 and RichVideo64.exe.manifest dated 2/25/2010. No RichVideo64.exe present.
ProgramFiles(x86)>Cyberlink>Shared files shows NO RichVideo.* files.

Upgraded from PD10 to PD12. PD10 was uninstalled without asking and had to enter new product key.

Solutions anyone? AMD FX8350 8 CORE, 16GB, Win 10 Home Prem 64-bit, GTX 1050 2GB, 250GB SSD, 1TB Hitachi SATA 2, PD16

If it were me I would try to uninstall PD then run "CLCleaner2-PowerDirector_12.0.exe" resolves in some situations.
RichVideo a part of PD.

RV is used by PD but I have used PD (in earlier versions) without RV for quite some time with no ill effects during normal editing. It seems to be mainly used in scene selection on file import and similar activities, which I never use anyway.

If you want to get rid of the message and are confident in altering your registry then there is a key for enabling RV - the default value is 1 and it needs changing to 0.

The attached snip shows the details.

If you are not certain of what you are doing, please be aware that mistakes in hacking the registry may be terminal (for your system anyway ) so do so at your own risk.

Cheers
Adrian

The uninstall of PDR12 via the control panel is the route to go. You have it seems purchased the upgrade and will need to have PDR10's activation key available to you during the install run of PDR12 (you'll be asked for the PDR10 key).

There should not be a need for you to carry out a registry hack to resolve this issue. The risk is very much yours to take. I'm sure what Adrian has advocated would be ok but I haven't needed to use it to resolve a RichVideo installation error.

Running CLCleaner may help in this instance - do so after you have uninstalled PDR12 via the Control Panel.

Just an opinion.

RichVideo is disabled by Windows. See the video below. After modification of the settings shown in Task Manager, my years long problem is solved.

(Really disappointed with the technical service of CyberLink.)
