Fellow Forum Members -

You may, like me, NOT make use of the Style templates in PD. If so, this will be of zero consequence. If you dabble in Styles & Theme Designer, there may be something in this that will help.

As there have been some questions about how these templates work, I started digging into them to get a handle on the way they function. Initially, I just wanted to investigate how the templates order images & clips...

Some odd anomalies surfaced during my testing:
► With some style templates the inclusion (or not) of video content:
(a) completely changes the style of presentation (I mean nothing like it)
(b) completely changes the order of display (video forces timeline order)

Anyway - whatever I found out during my digging around is all in the attached PDF file.

Cheers - Tony

Tony,

It is evident that the designers of PD do not have a map that they follow. This is not the only area of PD that this type of irregularity exists. I've run into so many that I've decided to forget keeping track of them : With every new version there are more added to the list. Win 10, i7

Hi HDedit -

True - there are some irregularities in different aspects of PD... they're particularly highlighted when you try to find regularities!

I discovered I'd neglected to test a couple of styles - Around the World & Getaway Stories. It turns out they're both predictable & without surprises, but I thought I should update the document for completeness.

Cheers - Tony

Here's a little video demonstrating a couple of the quirks of applying some styles in PD - namely - the impact of using video files (or not) with particular styles.

At least there's Theme Designer to overcome some of the repetitiveness of image cycles.

Brilliant Tony - thanks for taking the time to show us what really happens to these Themes.

I have never really used them but I was surprised that so many use the same styles

Happy editing Happing editing

Best Regards

Neil

Thanks again Tony for your thinking outside the tea cup.

I ran into that same issue awhile back, but decided not to use the styles anymore. Maybe now I can do a work around.

Thanks,
Bill in Texas

I had similar issues with styles. Unfortunately they are used for marketing purposes rather than innovative editing. Win 10, i7

I just use them for the fancy graphics they produce, then I delete everything else.
Even though I am a fan of Cyberlink, this feature needs some type of fixing to make it useable. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
