Insert transitions without change overall video time

Dear All,

I have noticed that when I insert a transition (like fade) between 2 video sequences, the overall time of the video changes. This has a very big effect in the sync between sound and video and de-sync my output.

Is there something I can do to avoid this time change?

When you apply a fade it overlaps the two clips and does shorten the overall time. You can click the modify button and fade each clip out, or in, and this will not happen, but the fade looks a little different when you do it this way. That is how I do all of my fades now. __________________________________

Hi Perifanos,

As Jamie said. It sounds like you are applying an Overlap type of transition. A quick fix would be to switch to the Cross type transition via the Modify button, or in your Preferences.
There are however some issues with frozen fames sometimes, on long duration transitions. And some folks simply prefer the Overlap type.
