Are you running the latest build of PD11?
MP3 has been a sore-spot for PD, but I think a patch fixed it.

Hi xperiaX8 ,
Perhaps you could attach the mp3 to your next post and we could test it on our systems.

mp3 are typically audio files. MP4 are typically video files. What do you have?

What are you doing when you say that you are importing mp3 files - adding them as music/back ground?

(Edit spelling)

Hi

Certain types of mp3s just do not work since PD10 & 11.

It has been well documented on this forum and just something you have to put up with.

Oddly enough all versions previous to PD10 the mp3s worked fine. A problem with the 64bit maybe, who knows!

The good news there is a free convertor called Audacity - a great resource. Just Google it.

All the best

Hi xperiaX8 -

ALL MP3 files that i import is does not work

I've had my share of troubles with MP3 files in PD10 & 11, so I got into the habit of only importing WAV & WMA files.

The other day I forgot & tried to import a little sound effect in MP3 format. Up came the import bar... and it stayed there for a few minutes till PD finally stopped working.

I dropped it into FormatFactory could have used Audacity as Neil suggested) and converted it to MP3 (!) and the converted file imported into PD correctly. The original file (Crabs4.mp3) and the converted file (Crabs4~1.mp3) are attached. See what they do when you try to import them into PD.

In the side by side MediaInfo reports you'll see a difference in bitrate & sampling rate.

Cheers - Tony

Nothing wrong with PD11 and most MP3 files...I just imported 15 MP3, with various bit rates and not one of them failed. However it could be that a certain bit rate might fail...if you could check your MP3 details and tell us what the bit rate is, that might tell us something.

I think 32kbps is a problem as discovered, if the file is re-sampled it works fine.. I confirmed it on my setup

It would be very helpful if you could tell the forum the details of your MP3 files that don't work. Just right click on the file and select properties, and then details..There you will see the bitrate, which would be very useful, and also the length and size.

These forums have helped thousands of users like myself to learn more about PD11 and get the excellent results that it is capable of delivering and your contribution would only add to that ever growing knowledge base. Intel Core i7 3770K 3.6 Ghz,
