Ever since I switched to HD video I have been struggling with topic of capture. I read that MTS and M2TS files are essentially the same. My camera (Canon Vixia HFS100) produces MTS files that formally 30p, but actually recorded as 60i, according to a manual.
However PD in file properties shows them as 29.97 fps, interlaced.
If I go through the capture process PD produces M2TS files, which also show the same properties (29.97 fps, interlaced) but slightly different bitrate (usually a bit lower) than for corresponding MTS files.
I produced videos using either MTS or M2TS files, using PD9. One of them, using MTS files had very bad quality on objects in motion (i.e. people walking by, some pans), making very ragged edges. M2TS seems better. Now I upgraded to PD11 and starting new one and would like your advice about necessity of capture and property issue.
