Power Director 10 ( Capture capabilities)
[Post New]
Is there a way to capture movie scenes from a DVD rather than an entire chapter or movie? Can these scenes be edited, shared and saved as files to be reused, if so how is it done?

Hello

No you cannot - I am sorry.

You need to copy the DVD files to your computer and then import these files into PowerDirector.

If the DVD has a copyright you probably cant do this.

If the scenes are each in their own VOB file you can copy just that part of the DVD, but that is very rare. __________________________________

Well, it's back to the drawing board. I tried both. Copied video files to my computer, imported them into PD 10 and I got the same result I did when I captured titles form the CD drve. There has to be something being missed besause in the help topics it says you can capture DVD scenes.

Hi The Apex7 ,

Quote: Capturing from an Optical Device
You can capture content from an optical device, such as video scenes from a DVD. To capture, use the capture player controls (record, play, stop, next/previous frame, etc.) underneath the capture preview window. You can also use the DVD disc structure tree to quickly select the titles and chapters you want to capture.
Note: some DVDs are protected by technology that does not allow you to capture the content they contain. * Optional feature in CyberLink PowerDirector. Check the version table for detailed versioning information.

Commercial DVD's will not allow one to remove scenes, video (vob files) using PowerDirector. CyberLink abides by the MPEGroup agreement.

Non-Commercial DVD's such as ones you created yourself will be ok to extract data from.

Remember a screen video capture program can be used to record what you see on your screen and is a useful way to explain what a particular problem is. Perhaps you could show us
