serious problem with PD 10

I found a very serious problem with PD 10 in producing and burning movies part of program.
If you use PD 10 to burn movies the quality of the burned DVD movie is sub standard .
You can set up the burn how ever you like MPEG – 4 or what ever the burn disk is not HD it is of very poor quality and is much smaller in size than a HD movie.

You can try this your self and see the difference produce movie like you always do with PD 10 save it .
Now start Nero burn software and import movie file directly to Nero and burn.

The difference is night and day if you look at the burned area on DVD you can see the Nero burn used up about 2 times the amount of DVD than PD 10 uses but the real difference is in viewing finished movie , try it your self and see.

Rest of PD 10 is great.

I strongly suggest that you read some of the basic info at the top of this forum before you post.

There are many of us who get excellent results with PD10 so your situation must be unusual.

Note: Do give us some hint as to the details of your project. PD10 has the ability to render a very large array of formats.

Do confuse the quality of a HD Video to the quality of a DVD video.

A DVD is not HD, it is Standard Definition, 720x480 NTSC or 720x576 PAL.

Not even close to a HD of 1920x1080.

If you want HD quality Disk you have to go to Blu-Ray.

OK last be clear , finish DVD movie and burn with within PD 10 results are CRAP compared to the other way.

Finish same produced movie from PD 10 and proceed to burn movie not in PD 10
but use Nero directly only movie quality excellent.

All the fan boy responses or insulting on myself does not change this fact.

You know I toke the time to point out a problem with PD 10 ((which is a program I love by the way)) that may help others like myself that spent days trying to figure out why when watching produced movie with windows player it was beautiful and when I when back into PD 10 and burned my movie to a DVD it was crap , and shared the fix here and then point this out here and get this.

While good luck I will keep the rest of my knowledge bass to myself

some thing to consider..when you produce a video file, the format and resolution has to be selected. A low resolution selection will result in a bad looking dvd re-play. In comparing PD10 to other programs...are you using the same format and resolution to create a DVD in the other video editing program ? In other words are you comparing apples to apples instead to mixing apples and oranges and comparing disimiler things ? I have not used the rival program you are finding to be better, but I have used another similar rival program to PD10 and both are comparable to a point I do not notice any difference in the dvd viewing experience. Set up

Take a look at snap from movie.
If I burn DVD using Nero bypassing PD 10 the DVD is now the same quality as the movie played
on PC with window 7 player
This one snap of movie burned within PD 10 is just crap in comparison

There's a big difference, as Carl pointed out earlier, between the produced file & what gets burned on a DVD.

In the first instance, you're comparing the produced file to the DVD. You're producing to MPEG-4 Best Quality (1920x1080 @ 13MBps) and comparing it to a DVD (720x480 @ ~8MBps)

Secondly, you're comparing the burn quality between PD & Nero. Obviously, you're able to compare them & see the difference. If all other parameters are the same (burn speed, disc type etc) then your best option is to "Create a Folder" & use dedicated burn software.

Your images showed what your words did not.

The increasingly transparent star fairy is back. We were just commenting on a temporary forum glitch where the "Moderator" label was attached to a number of members' avatars. Lighten up.

Ynotfish The point is if I burn produced file straight to Nero by passing PD 10 all together my burned DVD looks just as good as first example

Keep in mind both still snaps are from burned DVD in finished with PD 10 the other finished straight to Nero.

Your Nero image is not cropped nearly as much as the PD image, it is impossible to crop and get the same quality. I am not sure what caused the cropping, you or the burn.

I can see you're feeling a bit feisty. It's really unhelpful to be derogatory about other forum members. Barry is a long serving member of this forum & has helped thousands of PD users.

It's good that you're posting your observations, but you're going to have trouble convincing me (or anyone else who's thinking) that the resolution on a DVD burned in Nero (or ANY software) looks "just as good" as a video file produced as a 720p MPEG-4. Chalk & cheese.

Regarding your choice of burn software, I absolutely agree that you should use the tool that gives you the best result.
