Using Windows 7 x64, P2Go 6.0.0.3311 and the external USB BUFFALO BR-X816U2 blu-ray burner I successfully burned to a SONY BD-R (certified 6x) an Image of size 22.9 GB. I manually set the burning speed at 6x and in about 20 minutes the BD-R was ready. Of course I did not save the log of a successful burn.
Next, I inserted another SONY BD-R (certified 6x) in the same drive and chose the same Image to burn. Only this time I forgot to set the speed manually at 6x, leaving by accident, the suggested/max burning speed of 10x(!).
My drive only burns at 8x max and the SONY BD-R is certified to 6x only. I thought: I never had problems with P2Go max suggested speeds before using CDs, DVD+Rs, DVD-Rs, or DVD+RWs; at least it should burn initially at 10x and then slow down gradually.
(Not) to my surprise, the burn fails at about 56%... ErrCode: 0xeb020b9c
I know it is my fault only, in being thick as a brick for not having set the correct 6x speed manually, but I ask why does P2Go suggests a speed that the hardware can't handle? Maybe the SONY BD-R (certified 6x) can be burned in other blu-ray recorders at higher speeds but in this one it cannot, so maybe P2Go should first check/limit the burner capabilities and then check the disk's.
I know that most of the burning software recommends max burn speeds but Cyberlink ought do the opposite and be conservative about it, as to suggest safe, slow speeds because people are not machines and are (very) prone to err...
