I'm not sure if this is P2Go or PowerProducer's responsibility...

Using Windows 7 x64, P2Go 6.0.0.3311 and the external USB BUFFALO BR-X816U2 blu-ray burner I successfully burned to a SONY BD-R (certified 6x) an Image of size 22.9 GB. I manually set the burning speed at 6x and in about 20 minutes the BD-R was ready. Of course I did not save the log of a successful burn.
Next, I inserted another SONY BD-R (certified 6x) in the same drive and chose the same Image to burn. Only this time I forgot to set the speed manually at 6x, leaving by accident, the suggested/max burning speed of 10x(!).

My drive only burns at 8x max and the SONY BD-R is certified to 6x only. I thought: I never had problems with P2Go max suggested speeds before using CDs, DVD+Rs, DVD-Rs, or DVD+RWs; at least it should burn initially at 10x and then slow down gradually.

(Not) to my surprise, the burn fails at about 56%... ErrCode: 0xeb020b9c

I know it is my fault only, in being thick as a brick for not having set the correct 6x speed manually, but I ask why does P2Go suggests a speed that the hardware can't handle? Maybe the SONY BD-R (certified 6x) can be burned in other blu-ray recorders at higher speeds but in this one it cannot, so maybe P2Go should first check/limit the burner capabilities and then check the disk's.

I know that most of the burning software recommends max burn speeds but Cyberlink ought do the opposite and be conservative about it, as to suggest safe, slow speeds because people are not machines and are (very) prone to err...

Hello,

we would like to investigate your issue - can you please provide bus-trace log file for the issue:

1. Detailed Disc Model
2. BusTRACE log when launching Power2Go &reproduce previous step (but no need to burn a real disc)
-How to use BusTRACE? Please refer here
http://update.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/cs/Guide/busTRACE_log_ENU.mht

thanks and br
Michael

The disk that failed the burn is blue with a grey strip over the letters "BD-R" (on the right) and on top the label "AccuCORE"; below is "Ver. 1.3/6X 25 GB".

I inserted the other successfully burned SONY BD-R disk (at 6x speed) in the BUFFALO BR-X816U2 external usb drive and P2Go 6.0.0.3311, in Windows 7 x64 tried to import the previous session. In configuration pane I could read again 2X, 4X, 6X, 8X, 10X (max). This drive is not meant to burn BD-Rs at 10X!

I removed the SONY BD-R and inserted a brand new Memorex (1X-4X) to which P2Go showed as ready to burn at 8X. It will probably burn at 8X like before but I will choose 4X speed just to be safe.

I will try to bring the busTRACE log, not sure if I'll be able to do it...

#EDIT#

I uninstalled Cyberlink Blu-ray Disc Suite and installed Nero Burning ROM 11 Trial and then inserted the successfully burned SONY BD-R (6x) in the BUFFALO drive. Nero 11 Trial said it was blank and ready to be burned at 10X (44,950 Kbs).

Something is missing somewhere...

Adrian, It is always better to start your own thread than to threadjack one that is almost 5 years old.

If you search the web for that error, you will find that the most common issue id a dirty burner or a bad choice of discs. You can get a cd cleaner disc or just try blowing out the drive with clean dry air (protect your eyes). You should always use best quality blank discs if you really want to keep your work. Store brands and cheap discs are not usually good for percent of quality burns vs failures and not good for long term storage. The cost difference is negligible.

Let us know if these two suggestions help.

Edit: Read this article regarding disc quality. It is not a recommendation for use the company as a supplier: The article is somewhat out of date.
