I know its been on here before...but after reading all I can find, I cannot resolve this issue. It does this every time at 21% no matter the burn speed or any other changes I try. After weeks of working on a project, its fairly discouraging to have it stuck on my computer. I am using PD9 and using a hard drive now with 127gig of free space on it since my main drice had less available space. No change though. What else can I provide to try to resolve this? Even removed and reinstalled PD9 today to see if that would help. Also cleaned out most of the cache files.

Hi Hollon319,
Please take a few minutes and read up a post by a fellow PD editor on the "e" error messages.

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/16413.page

21% ... is the error point = Look at the way you have constructed your menu.

Dafydd,

I upgraded every driver I could find. Deleted caches galore. I started a new project, very small in size, and had the same error message. I tried removing the menus from my project, and it errors out at about 2:00 and 0% complete. Not sure what else to do now.

Hollon: I took a look at your dxdiag file. I regret to have to tell you that I think your computer appears to be seriously underpowered to handle PD9. The minimum requirements are listed at this URL:

http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector/requirements_en_CA.html

I know the specs now refer to PD10, but they are essentially the same as for PD9, which required more resources than previous versions of PD.

Your RAM is only 2 GB, you have an integrated graphics card with only 128 MB of RAM, your DirectX is out of date (now DirectX 11), and your primary hard drive has only 20 GB free. Recommended RAM for a 32-bit OS is at least 3 GB, dedicated video RAM is recommended to be at least 500 MB, and free space should be in the order of 50 to 100 GB. Latest drivers for video should be installed and the latest version of QuickTime.

I think what is happening is that because PD9 produces enormous temporary files during authoring and rendering, you are running out of RAM, video RAM, and C: drive space, and PD9 just runs out of resources and quits.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You could try installing PD9 on a more powerful computer and see if your problem vanishes, assuming, of course, that you select a slow burning speed. I think you will find that PD9 will burn fine, particuarly if you have the latest patch (3305) which fixed a lot of burn, and other problems.

Have a great day.

Hi Hollon319. I am not an expert on AMD processors and Radeon cards, though I do have a Radeon Mobility card in my DELL laptop. I prefer Intel and NVidia. Just a personal preference. Perhaps one of the real techs can give you advice on that hardware.

As for your 60 GB SSD primary drive, I am concerned about that. PD9, from what I have read, doesn't play well with SSDs, which is why I went with twin 600 GB Velociraptor drives (10,000 rpm) in RAID 0 array for my new computer. PD9 creates its enormous temporary files on Drive C:, which will also have your OS. For HD rendering, 50 to 100 GB of free space on your C: drive is recommended. You might find that the SSD will lack sufficient space and stall on you.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be able to give you a definitive answer. Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Phil,

Thanks for the input. I am trying to do this economically, but of course I dont want an economical system that doesnt work either.....So it seems I should be good if I get a different and larger drive.

I appreciate your advice and am sure you are probably correct.
