So your burning AVCHD files to DVD then playing it back on a BD player, now I understand.
To answer your original question of how many minutes AVCHD you can fit on a DVD 4.7 GB, it depends on the various things like:
File size, 1920x1080, 1440 x ?, etc
MBPS, 8, 16, 24 etc
I record at 24mbps @ 1920x1080 which allows me (if I wanted to) to store approx 30mins on a DVD using the AVCHD format.
Note: Just because a disc has a capacity of 4.7GB, it requires about 10% room to uncompress. Therefore a disc holds approx 4.2GB.
