New Panasonic HD camcorders. 50P and 28 mbps, but can PD edit them?

I'm thinking of buying a new camcorder and see that the new models from Panasonic can record at 1920 x 1080P and 50 /60 P plus 28 mbps. That sounds great, but I notice that there have already been issues with editing 24 pbps and wonder whether PD would be able to edit these even higher data rates. I save my videos as mpeg 2 or H264 files on my hard drive to play on my HD television. I would like to save at maximum quality. There doesn't seem any point in buying a new camcorder if
1. I can only save my files as 25 P
2. I won't be able to save them at around 28 mbps
3. It will involve huge complications.

I see that many other video editing programmes struggle with 50 P and 28 mbps even if their computers are up to the job.
Any thoughts?

Thanks
