I don't understand the function of Tracks. How do I get the button's for Split & Copy to appear?

Can you refer me to some basic tutorials? Working with a Trial version of PD9

My only experience is with Movie Maker - which is very basic.

Thanks Thanks for the help!

Welcome to PD9 and the forum,

When you place a clip in the time line and/or select a clip in the time line the editing buttons will appear above the time line. Split is the first on the left.

For copy you have a couple of choices;
1- Select the clip to be copied and right click, copy is one of the options.
2- Or, you can use the basic ctrl+C after selecting a clip.

There are many tutorials available, I don't have the links, but others will likely supply them very soon.

There are lots of tutorials on this website. You can also learn a lot by watching the tutorials on PD7 and PD8 as well. There are slight differences from PD9, but they still can teach you how to do a lot of different things.

There is a link to the tutorials. Just click on "Tutorial Videos" once there.

I don't see a direct response to that, so I'll try.

If you are used to image editors, then think of the tracks as layers.

If not, think of the tracks as a stack of slides. Your final video is a look through the entire stack, so each track is superimposed on the ones below. (In PD9, it goes from bottom to top.) If the slides (tracks) are semi-transparent, or have holes in them, then the stuff below will show through.

Does that help? Jerry Schwartz

Dafydd I love the idea of the link to tutorials, the only thing is it doesn't show up in my PD9.

I have a picture appear where your picture is but not to any tutorials, any idea why it does not show up in my version? My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

Hi Robert,

That's strange, because when I click on the link it takes me straight to the tutorials site. Which build do you have?

Robert

Hi Robert,

I have the latest build 2504, all I have when I go to preferences is an image of a directors chair.

I have checked with my firewall to make sure PD has access to the net which it does.

Could you post a link to the PD9 tutorials here so I can have a look, I am always ready to learn new and sometimes basic things.

Thanks
