"PDSpeed" - provides extra keyboard shortcuts for faster PD9 editing

It should work with version 11 unless Cyberlink have changed the basics of how the interface works and the built in keyboard shortcuts - and as changes of that kind might upset the longer-time users, they probably won't.

PDSpeed is a tiny program that needs no installation as such, so if you already have PDR11 installed, just try PDSpeed and see if it works as originally described (on a test project). If it doesn't I'd be interested to know - and you could simply delete the .exe file to put everything back as it was.

Greetings to all as I pass through, and happy editing in 2013!

Works here on Win7 / 64
Here I just use "S" (Divide) and "D" (divide and delete the left)

Testing it out, PD11, Win 7/64.

CTRL/Spacebar does not seem to work.

Spacebar and Alt/Spacebar seems to work as documented.

OK, seeing a trend - whatever is in here that does the "roll back 5 seconds" is not working. The n jumps to the beginning of the next clip but does not roll back 5 seconds, same for the p key - works but no 5 second rollback.

k, j, l work.

s works. d works but instead of automatically deleting brings up the delete options.

same thing for i and o

Hmm, thanks for reports. Trouble is I'm back on PD9 still (and not doing enough editing to justify purchase of PD11). I'll have a think about it. At least some of it still works!

After pulling my hair out for the last couple years, I found this thread! Thanks so much! One command I would like to have is split, select the unneeded left or right clip segment, delete and leave gap- maybe shift "d" and shift "i/o"?. I know I can use shift delete to leave a gap, but I wonder if this would come in handy. What I'd like to get around is PD's default ripple edit "feature". It drives me nuts when I move stuff around and something down the time-line moves too... Actually, if anyone knows how to toggle ripple editing on and off for PD 10, I would love to know!

On a side note, AVG gave me a warning too. I just allowed it

I have been playing with this more. With using PDSpeed, I would love to:

1. Hit a key and have it Split, then Page Up (to put it in clip mode), then Ctrl Left Arrow to select the unwanted part of the clip, then Shift Delete to leave the gap and then Page down to go back to movie mode.

2. Hit a key and have it Split, then Page Up (to put it in clip mode), then Ctrl Right Arrow to select the unwanted part of the clip, then Shift Delete to leave the gap and then Page down to go back to movie mode.

This would be a work around for PD's "ripple/magnetic timeline- whatever it is- feature" that takes away the feeling of me being in control of my timeline

Thanks!
Dave

Hello again, I've just made my own script with autoHotkey. I modified your script to do what I want and I'm pretty happy! Thanks Peter for opening my eyes to this possibility!

Thanks to Peter and to you for opening my eyes
Even such a long time later, and with 'super award winning' PD13, but still missing macro recording and scripting interface PD13, your scripts are as important as editing time savers as back in 2010/2013 for you with PD9 and PD11.

I am at PD13 on Vista-32 and trying to make my own modification of Peter's script.
But I do not know the script phrases to avoid the pop-up options menu for the Ctrl+V part and to select the appropriate option in the first place.
I would need to learn the script code parts for Shift+Del, Ctrl+Del, "default" Del, Alt+Del and for Ctrl+Drop, Shift+Drop, Alt+Drop.
I would also need help to solve the mistery of how to preselect the appropriate object dimension (frame, second, minute, scene, subtitle, chapter, segment) of the roll-back number.
Last but not least, how to make an exe out of the hkl?

Please share your knowledge and your code parts for automatically selecting the appropriate sub-options without pup-up interrupt.

Thanks in advance!

P.S.
My recent tests give me the impression that my problems already start before the Ctrl+C part:

Any suggestions?

Thx Peter,

remeber with great power comes great resposibility (I think Aristoteles said that?), ok enough silly jokes.

I work with PD12, so some shortcuts doesnt work anymore but the ability to stop/play between clip/movie is really handy. Also S works, enough for me.

For those who think that PD has enough shortcuts, it doesnt have the proper ability to go back or just rewind , of course one second and than its based on unit wich you have to switch manually (pain in the ass).

But really thx again

EDIT: Ok, I found the source on page 2 of these forums. I'll post back if I develop any tweaks myself. Thanks!

Hi Peter,

I love this program - thanks so much for making it! I just got PD for Christmas and this already makes it soooo much more pleasant to make videos.

I did notice the Ctrl+Space (back 5 seconds) shortcut no longer works. I'm guessing PD changed things around. Do you happen to have the source code on GitHub? If so, I'd love to add some tweaks and re-post.

Thanks!

-Lisa & Andrew
