Quote: OK Martin, I've just had a message from CyberLink - over Skype.

Please check your online support messages (give it 24hours to filter through) and they should provide you with a full upgrade to Ultra and activation key etc.

As you raised a ticket with them they'll supply.

Dafydd

I will keep 'em peeled and let you know what happens... it is a shame that there seems to be more than one train of software for the same application and the patch on the website just breaks everything as it is not designed for my 'variant'

Thanks for your help and assistance.. you are the kind of guy that makes forums while..

Thanks to you all for your help and a special thanks to Dafydd.. I now have version 3022 and all works as it should

It would seem my issue was related to the version that came with the HP special DVD Suite upgrade pack... surely others with HP systems taking this path to get the full software are experiencing the same issues?!?!...

I am a happy boy now and can edit my video with no issues or problems

Regards
martin

I am having the same issue as Martin...upgraded HP OEM software...now everything locks up when producing. When I go to redownload software, there is no such option, even though I purchased the extended download feature.

How do I go about getting this corrected (get a full version of PD8 with an activation code)? Thanks in advance. Reggie

So as we suspoected this is an issue with the version with the version included in the HP upgrade bundle.. maybe Cyberlink would be better to upgrade this to include the stable 3022 version

I would suggest logging a ticket with Cyberlink and referencing this thread...

Thanks for the response, Martin. Yes, the problem appears to be in the HP-influenced bundle. I will send in a trouble ticket as you suggest.

You would think that HP would add some disclaimer that the software that you will be getting is not the "full version" of the product. If I had known that the OEM upgrade was PD8-lite, I would have bought the full version directly from Cyberlink to start with. Now I sit here with a deadline...with projects dead in the water until Cyberlink responds.

Hope your issue has been resolved! Reggie

Let's be clear here..the upgrade is a full version of the PD8 so this is not the issue...

The issue is that the version in the bundle is not the latest version and contains a serious bug that causes probems when trying to produce..

This is also compounded by the fact that the upgrade file from the Cyberlink site to 3022 does not work on the HP specific version so there is currently no patch available to resolve the problem..

In the end a kind moderator on the forum assisted my with getting Cyberlink to provide me a standalone copy of the PD8 software on v3022 which did not have this bug

Oh, I see. I misinterpreted something that I read earlier in the thread. The result, however, is the same. Those who upgraded via the HP bundle are in a tight spot when they try to fix the production problem. My issue is compounded at the moment because the download link in my order confirmation E-Mail is dead...so I can't even work with the buggy version of PD8 at the moment.

I have submitted a request to get a standalone version of PD8...my fingers are crossed! Reggie

Reggie,
The first "port of call" is online support and they should respond to you. I am monitoring the thread and reading the comments. I can step in and assist (only if you're not getting support) but I would rather you wait as I am not CL tech support.

UPDATE...I was able to get a good link to the HP OEM software download through Cyberlink voice support. I downloaded the software again and installed over a clean copy of the original HP OEM DVD Suite software. Everything works fine. Even the jerky DVD output was corrected.

I believe, as others have stated here, that the problem arises when the 3022 patch is applied to the HP OEM version of PD8. Now that things are working again, I'm not going to try any patches until the HP/Cyberlink issue is resolved, or until customer support agrees to let me download a standalone copy of PD8.

Thanks for the the help everybody! Reggie

Hello everyone,

I'm hoping this thread is still being followed because I'm having the exact same problem:

Hey guys,

I just paid for the upgrade to Cyberlink Suite Gold / Powerdirector V8 specifically so that I could input MP4...

My flip cam outputs MP4 format so I need to be able to work with this, However I am disappointed to see that Powerdirector 'freezes' EVERY time I try to upload an MP4 video file.

I see on the forums here that this has been a common problem with the "upgrade" version, which for some reason still has a bug (as opposed to if I just purchased that version initially).

I did submit a ticket about it... not sure how long it will take to receive a reply.
I've also tried rebooting several times... no change. Please help. Is there a patch that actually works?

I see at http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/powerdirector/patches_en_US.html that there is a 3022 Patch for PD8, but from what I read on here it sounds like that caused other issues, is that right or should I try it?

I'm hoping since this is a recurring problem that someone on here may have already found a solution.

RSVP

Thanks,
