mp4 files from Flip UltraHD wont import into PowerDirector v8

Sorry MArtin,

I read so many posts that I lost track that you had provided the sample.

I still had your test mp4 on my desktop. I am able to produce it to any file type on my Windows 7 64 bit system using Power Director 8 Ultra Build 2704.. So it seems that it is possibly isolated on your system or be a specific problem with the Version and build of your limited edition Power Director.

thanks for testing I have a ticket open (2 days now) but have not even had a response of any kind yet

lets see if someone else has any ideas

You should provide screenshots of what you're seeing and experiencing.

Please provide Part B in the guide.

Please send me in a PM, your "proof of purchase" the order number, the date of purchase, your full name and email address.

I'm wondering if this is just a case of corrupt file upgrade.

Thanks very much for your attention on this one

Here is a link to my dxdiag file

and here are some shots of my experience

1 - open app and click import as normal

2 - Select one of the mp4 vids from the folder

3 - Import works no issues

4 - drag the file to the timeline - no issues

5 - press produce to create and output

6 - sit back for 30 seconds until

7 - application closes

That is it.. works perfectly for the sample file and does this for my mp4 files only

I will PM details of my purchase details for my upgrade

Hi Martin,

I downloaded your test video and this time it downloaded without the "_" at the front and back of the file. Sorry to say for you but it worked properly on my machine, it produced fine.

I hope you get it worked out.

thanks very much for this.. at least we know the file format is sound.. fingers crossed that Daffyd can assist me as so far the support ticked I raised has just had a 'generic' response including things I have tried already

Hi Martin,

For what it's worth, I also downloaded and tested your clip.
I Produced to 3 seperate 720p formats (AVC, Mp4,WMV), and all went fine. No crashes.
Hope it get's sorted out for you.

perfect.. then I think we can be safe in the knowledge that there is nothing wrong with my file format.. have added these findings to my ticket so let's see what happens next

My system is very clean (I am a bit anal when it comes to having unecessary software) so I cannot think it is a conflict somewhere.. is there some third party app I need to install to make mp4 work?.. I installed FDShow etc but this made no difference..

At the beginning I could not import these files, a complete uninstall/reinstall resolved this and now i cannot prodice mp4 files... resolve one issue and create another...

Martin, I still require the Order number for your purchase of an upgrade to a full version PD8. The DVD suite you purchased would have had restrictions on file recognition and acceptance. The DVD suite does not contain the full version of PD.

Unless you provide the order number I can not provide the solution. I suspect the issue is to do with the version of PD you're operating (upgraded or not) than the full version PD8 members here are testing your file on.

I think we a cool on this now.. thanks for your help.. it would seem this upgrade path is not as obvious as it would first seem.. going to Gold/Platinum does give you the full software but it is not shown in the same way as if you purchased the application standalone..

Again thanks for your help and I will wait very patiently to see what you get back from Cyberlink

Please can you do the following:

Download the trial version of PD8 and install - the PD8Deluxe version you have does NOT need to be uninstalled as the trial version will do that for you. To the Trial Version

Next, I want you to retest the mp4 clip and report back.

You've submitted a online support ticket and you should receive a similar set of instructions from them.

Let me know how you get on and then I'll advise how to proceed.

I will do this when I get home..

To be honest the only thing I had from support was to try everything that i had already done in the thread already (even though I refered them to this) they did mention a reinstallation of the software (which I did) but not the trialware as you state

Will let you know the outcome of this later on today

downloaded the trial version (3022) and installed - as you say it removed my version and installed this 3022 trial version with no issues

Looks and smells just like the version that I had however this time there are no issues, errors or problems - I can import, edit and produce my mp4 files with no problems at all..

So is this related to the version that comes in the HP upgrade bundle??... how do I goto 3022??

Please check your online support messages (give it 24hours to filter through) and they should provide you with a full upgrade to Ultra and activation key etc.

As you raised a ticket with them they'll supply.

I will keep 'em peeled and let you know what happens... it is a shame that there seems to be more than one train of software for the same application and the patch on the website just breaks everything as it is not designed for my 'variant'
