I have all my media named but when i import them into PD they all get renamed and has created quite the mess.
I must be doing something wrong or is there a setting to keep original names when importing?

Hi,
For completeness, which version of PDR are you on and which OS?

Can you give examples of what has happened, including your renaming and importing workflow?

I've never known PDR rename a file just by importing it to the Media Library.

I am using PD 21.1 and MAC Ventura 13.1....Thanks

I have all my JPG and MP3's in a folder on a thumb drive. I click import a media folder and it imports everything but JPG1 is now named JPG50. They are all changed so I now have no order to what I am looking at. Even the MP3 names are changed to JPG1 or whatever. They all work fine but it is a crapshoot when adding different music becasue I dont know what I am grabbing as names are changed.

Hi,
Not so many users on Mac OS so you might be well advised to raise a ticket with support instead of waiting for members to troubleshoot with you. Link in the signature below.

I'm all on win systems so can't help directly.

Does this renaming only happen on import from an external drive, or from an internal location as well?

Cheers
