"CyberLink PowerDVD 10 is not optimized for this screen resolution and will now close."
It all started with PowerDVD 9 build 2320. I was having an issue with a movie not playing so I checked and there was an update to build 2528. This build also states that it will add HD audio playback which I'm looking to do soon as Denon makes a 5811 or 4811 with HDMI 1.4.
Build 2320: Works as it should with any screen configuration I've tried as do all previous version of PowerDVD I have used over the past 4 years or so. 7,8,9...
Build 2528: Gives the error if one of the two displays that I have are in portrait mode.
As I feared, PowerDVD 10 also has this bug.
I've been struggling with CyberLink support(?) for about a month now. It took many replies to get them to kind of understand the issue. I asked many times to escalate the issue to someone more knowable but they just keep telling me things like:
Reinstall PowerDVD 9 build 2320.
Reinstall PowerDVD 9 build 2320 and upgrade it to 2528.
Install this full version of PowerDVD 9 build 2528.
Set the resolution of your PC to 1024*768 before installing the software.
We normally suggest our customer to use the PowerDVD 9 Ultra under administrative privileges and use the software in 1024x768 screen resolution.
I understand that you are using CyberLink PowerDVD 9 Ultra and you are only able to playback of Blu-ray Disc's under 1024x768 resolution. In response to your concern, I suggest you to visit the link given below to install the latest patch 2528 and check whether you are to play the HD movies in 1920x1080 screen resolution.
In response to your issue please note that though the system is Blu-Ray capable, however the Graphics card "ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series" Drivers do not support the RGBOverlay technology thus giving errors with Blu-Ray playback. OMG!
In regards to your concern, I would like to inform you that I have checked the Display Devices Current Mode of the DxDiag.txt and found that your current mode is Current Mode: 1920 x 1200 (32 bit) (60Hz). If the wide of display's resolution is bigger than length (3:4, 4:5 or others), PowerDVD would pop up the dialog and can't launch. Not very coherent but kinda sounds like maybe someone there knows about the issue. No mention of any attempt to fix the bug.
After this they just loop back into installing this or that version.
Are they going to fix this bug. This is a totally valid Windows configuration. CyberLink should have no issue with this.
